Description
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New England District will be issuing an Invitation for Bids (IFB) for demolition and disposal of the India Point Bridge. This procurement is a Small Business Set-Aside.� The NAICS code for this procurement is 238910 with a size standard of $16.5M.� The solicitation requirements and contract documents to include instructions for submission and the response date will be available on or about July 2022.� The estimated construction cost is between $1,000,000 and $5,000,000.� Any responsible source meeting the required standards may submit a bid to be considered by the New England District. The project consists of demolition of the remaining portion of the India Point Bridge.� The span is approximately 181 feet long, 15 feet high, with an outside dimension of 36 feet wide. Demolition will include removal of steel-clad concrete piers and 5 circular supports to roughly 2 feet below the mud line, and abandoned supports, including all substructure features, except the granite block abutment at the east end of the bridge, which shall remain and be protected. Demolition and removal of steel superstructure and demolition and removal of timber pilings and fender system is required. Possible removal methods include working from a barge with a crane, underwater work, and the use of a turbidity curtain and/or other necessary environmental precautions. The Contractor shall either remove each span piecemeal or in larger sections for disposal off-site. Marine navigation could be impacted during some of the demolition process. The Seekonk River is tidal. The marina owner will remove floating docks and associated piles prior to construction and replace after the completion of work. All work must be completed within the 5-month period-of-performance. Please note that this solicitation is set aside for certified small businesses.� This is not an invitation for bid at this time; the solicitation requirements and contract documents which will include instructions for submission and the response dates will be available on or about July 2022.� Neither telephonic, mailed, nor faxed requests for hard copies of this solicitation will be accepted.� The solicitation will only be available online; in order to download the solicitation, bidders must access the System for Award Management website (SAM.gov).� All responsible sources may submit a bid which shall be considered by the New England District.� Additional questions may be emailed to the Contract Specialist at heather.m.skorik@usace.army.mil.
