Description
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention intends to award a sole source firm fixed price purchase order to OSAP FOUNDATION, INC; for the Future Infection Prevention and Control Resources for Dental Health Professionals and Dental Settings. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is the lead federal agency for protecting the health and safety of the U.S. population. CDC's Division of Oral Health (DOH), located in the National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion, works to improve the oral health of the nation and reduce inequalities in oral health by helping states improve their oral health programs; extending the use of proven strategies to prevent oral disease by enhancing efforts to monitor oral diseases, such as dental caries (tooth decay); contributing to the scientific knowledge-base regarding oral health and disease; and guiding infection prevention and control (IPC) in dental health care settings. As a national authority in dental IPC, DOH develops and promotes infection prevention and control guidelines for dental health care settings, and resources to increase adherence to those guidelines. DOH investigates possible disease transmission in dental offices and responds to frequent and numerous inquiries about infection prevention practices from dental health care personnel and the public. The purpose of this project is to create IPC resources that are needed to promote safe care in dental settings and to collect information on how IPC practices are conducted at the state level and determine state TA needs. Work performed by the contractor will allow for CDC to reach a larger audience and expand our information and resources. It will also help us plan future programs to better engage and support state oral health programs in implementing IPC activities across their states.
