- Description
- The Government anticipates soliciting a Support and Sustainment 5 year Contract from a sole source for the production and sustainment of the U-2 Life Support S1034 Pilot Protective Assembly (PPA), S1034E Helmets and associated components. The work is currently being performed by David Clark Company, Inc., Cage: 71483 under current contract FA8528-19-D-0001. The Air Force requires long-term support, production, and sustainment of the S1034 Pilot Protective Assembly (PPA), which is a high altitude pressure suit utilized in the performance of U-2 piloted reconnaissance, and includes the S1034E Helmet, and other associated equipment and components, as authorized by DoD (Department of Defense) Directive 5000.1 and 5000.2-R, as well as other DoD implementing directives. Air Combat Command A5 requirements which provide for an over-arching sustainment program for the U-2. The CLS support includes engineering support, the repair of spare assets, resolution of system failures and issues to ensure availability, reliability, and maintainability of the fielded equipment.� This effort requires critical expertise to ensure that every component of the PPA be manufactured, tested, and fitted to precise specifications, to ensure that the PPA provides the pilot sufficient� oxygen at all times (even during ejection), anti-suffocation protection communications, feeding and drinking capability, urine relief (long endurance missions), and wind/flame/exposure/immersion protection.� In addition, the management of, Diminishing Manufacturing Sources and Material Shortages (DMSMS) engineering, engineering change proposals, configuration management,� data management, technical data (such as technical manuals and reports), development and maintenance, in-plant Specialized Repair Activity and sparing, technical and engineering actions for resolving system failures/issues in a timely manner, and planning / preparation / implementation of system sustainment improvements and upgrades. The purpose of this request is to conduct Market Research activity to gather information on whether any additional sources are capable of meeting this requirement.
