- Description
- Background: The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) is a national laboratory of the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE), operated and managed by the Alliance for Sustainable Energy, LLC. NREL advances the science and engineering of energy efficiency, sustainable transportation, and renewable power technologies and provides the knowledge to integrate and optimize energy systems. Located in the foothills of Golden, Colorado, NREL is the only federal laboratory dedicated to the research, development, commercialization, and deployment of renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies. The Alliance for Sustainable Energy, LLC (the Alliance), as the Prime Contractor for the DOE to manage and operate NREL, is seeking a subcontractor that can perform the requisite landscape and irrigation system services for both native grassland/conservation areas and manicured landscaping across NRELs three campuses. The South Table Mountain (STM) Campus consists of three distinctive landscape area types across approximately 350 acres: Conservation Area, Natural Area, and Transitional Area. The Flatirons Campus consists of open grassland landscape area and is made up of approximately 305 acres. The Camp George West Campus is not currently maintained by NREL, but will be in the near future, and consists mainly of manicured landscaping. The Camp George West Campus consists of lawn grass landscaping and is made up of 6.6 acres. There are 29 buildings with an approximate 43,024 square footage. The landscape maintenance services oversee all grass, tree, shrub, plants, flowers, mulch and rock across the three campuses at NREL. The irrigation maintenance and repair services include monitoring, inspections, general maintenance, and repairs on the existing WeatherTRAK Smart Irrigation System across all three campuses at NREL. Objective: The objective of this Sources Sought is to identify potential contracting companies that are qualified and capable of meeting the project objectives. The project objective, at a high level, to preserve and maintain its campus open space areas to minimize the negative impacts on the environment and maximize the efficient use of resources to enhance the native and naturalized vegetation communities and wildlife habitat. See attached document for more information.
