Description
Naval nuclear propulsion plants are composed of many specially designed components. The lifetime cost of these components includes not only the design and manufacturing costs but also the cost of maintaining the component in operating condition throughout the life cycle. Problem Statement: Innovations to improve component design, manufacturing, and maintenance methods which result in reduced cost and simpler maintenance are being sought. These include, but are not limited to: Component designs or process changes which minimize leakage, corrosion, routine maintenance, or in-service testing requirements and time. Methods, sensors or integrated systems and sensors, to enable predicative or condition-based maintenance. Methods of automating non-destructive testing and repair in both production and servicing environments. Methods of automating component operation (e.g., testing of electrical and mechanical equipment, actuation of valves) or repair techniques (e.g., welding repairs). Factory or machine augmentation (e.g., co-bots) or automation systems. Large pressure vessel design or fabrication innovations beyond additive methods. Increased power density for power electronics. 3D printed circuitry. High voltage DC interruption capability Pre-Proposal Conference: Question & Answer Session A pre-proposal conference will be conducted to discuss the proposed work area and answer any questions with respect to the project on: May 17, 2022, at 11:00 am 12:00 pm EST Contact Anne Roth to sign up to attend the Pre-Proposal Conference (Q&A session).
