Description
Request For Information (RFI) Stratton VA Medical Center Project Name: Replace OR Chillers Project #: 528A8-19-804 Solicitation#: 36C24222B0027 April 21, 2022 RFI #1 Q: Page 7 of the subject referenced solicitation states that we are to submit ""One (1) Class Deviation to Implement SDVOSB and VOSB Certification Requirements."" What form or document are you expecting to receive in order to satisfy that requirement? A: The form is located on page 50 and 51 of the solicitation. (VA Notice of Limitations on Subcontracting-Certificate of compliance for Services and Construction (Sep. 2021) (Deviation) RFI #2 Q: Is it possible to get information on the AHU-1 Manufacture/model number? The drawing or specs do not seem to have this information to properly quote the cooling coil replacements (CC-1 & CC-2). A: Unit is a Ventrol Custom AHU. Unit Serial # 21225-01. The local manufacturer s representative should have the information on these coils. RFI #3 Q: EP-101 Keyed note #3 calls for EC to extend existing flexible conduit + conductors as required to new OR chiller control/disconnect panel. If the conduit + conductors aren't long enough will a splice be allowed or will we be required to pull all new conductors? For bidding purposes, please specify either replace or leave as-is. A: Splices will not be allowed. RFI #4 Q: S-501 Details 7, 8, and 9 are indicated as a deduct alternate. This is not listed in the Project Bid Items. Please clarify. A: Details 7, 8, and 9 concern opening up the wall so that the AHU chilled water coils can be replaced. If replacement of the coil is deducted then these three details will also be deducted. RFI # 5 Q: MPE-102 MEP work associated with the new wall opening to relocate, support, insulate, etc. is not indicated in the plans as part of a bid deduct alternate. Please clarify. A: Piping plans 1 and 2 show the wall opening. This wall opening is contained within the dashed line that is identified as the deduct alternate. The only reason to open this wall is so that the cooling coil can be replaced. RFI # 6 Q: Can you provide the preferred Controls Contractor? A: The contractor installing the controls is identified on drawing M-801, Controls General Notes #3. Please be aware that there is only one contractor. All others are a sub to this contractor. RFI # 7 Q: Currently the Direct-Digital Control System for HVAC, Specification 230923, only lists Automated Logic as the facility s existing direct-digital controls system (ECC). Trane currently has an extensive Direct- Digital Controls System (Tracer Ensemble) at the Albany VA, and currently controls the OR Chillers with its most up-to-date controls platform. Can the project please add Trane Controls as an approved system manufacturer to the Direct- Digital Controls for HVAC Specification 230923? A: No. Trane s system is not in compliance with specification section 230923.
