- Description
- Procurement of a 200kV environmental monochromated and spherical aberration corrected transmission and scanning transmission electron microscope (TEM/STEM, or STEM/TEM) for the Center for Functional Nanomaterials (CFN) at Brookhaven National Laboratory. The microscope, hereafter referred to as �Instrument�, shall be designed to provide an optimum combination of capabilities for ultra-high-vacuum to high pressure at the sample for in-situ experiments under various environmental conditions, including gaseous environment, as well as high-resolution imaging, nanoscale electron diffraction, and electron energy-loss spectroscopy (EELS). This ultrahigh vacuum (UHV) instrument is required to operate at several voltages, such as 200 keV, 100 keV, 60 keV and 30 keV. The Instrument shall be equipped with a cold-field-emission-gun (CFEG) and high quantum efficiency detectors. This new system will enable the determination of physical and chemical properties of various materials at high spatial and high energy resolution and in gasoues environment which is of importance to discoveries in materials science.
