Will an internal extended lube line and sight glass be acceptable? 2.6 FAN AND DRIVE ASSEMBLY 8. Extend oil fill, drain, and vent to outside of cooling tower casing using galvanized-steelor stainless-steel piping. Include oil- level sight glass. RESPONSE: Yes. An internal fill, drain, vent, and sight glass is sufficient. 3. Does the tower require a fan discharge stack? For cooling tower controls, will the controller sending signals to the VFD from the water temperature sensor be provided and installed by the controls contractor? Will the controls package itself be required from the cooling tower manufacturer? This mechanical room has a concrete sump, therefore no water will be held in the cooling tower basin. (Dry basin design) Typically with a separate concrete sump, the controls contractor would handle the controls and not the cooling tower manufacturer. C. Control Package: 5. Microprocessor-based controller for automatic control of fan based on cooling tower leaving-water temperature with control features to improve operating efficiency based on outdoor ambient wet-bulb temperature by using adaptive logic. RESPONSE: Since this is a dry sump configuration, the controls will need to be provided by the controls contractor and placed on the FAA CCMS. Cooling tower manufacturer shall provide a VFD and the control contractor shall provide sump water temperature control by varying the fan speed and opening the bypass valve whenever the sump water drops below 65F. Control contractor shall also provide level sensors and level control valve for the sump makeup. Bypass valve shall be two-position operation and not modulating control. 2/25/2022 This amendment was created to add an addendum to the Specificiations titled 6974GH-22-R-00017 Addendum No. 1 - GNAS Upgrade Mech-Elec. Sheet G.003 identifies the grouping of rooms that are used concurrently for instruction and lab used to assist in development of the construction schedule. All materials required need to be on-site prior to the whole building shutdown. During the whole building shutdown, the contract replaces the AHU, supply/return duct in the conference room, CT and HRU and associated systems in the general lab. Work in the general lab areas includes: replace light fixtures as indicated on drawings, replacement and modification of a significant amount of ductwork, diffusers / ductwork accessories / air terminal units as indicated on the drawings, replacement / modification of heating water piping as indicated on the drawings and replacement of HVAC controls. 2. All work in 2023 is from 6pm to 6am Monday Friday except the whole building shutdown scheduled from December 18, 2022 to January 7, 2023. 3. Question:Plan G.003 does not show the outdoor area where the heat recovery unit and cooling tower are located to have a specific work schedule. Is there a time restraint of when HRU-1 and CT-1 can be installed? RESPONSE: Contractor may schedule work outside the facility that does not impede or disturb the mission of this facility. 4. Question:Will existing exposed HVAC piping that is not to be replaced be expected to receive new PVC and stainless steel jacketing as specified for new piping as indicated in specification 230719 3.15.c and 230719 3.16.C.1? RESPONSE: No only new piping and/or new ductwork will be required to be provided with jackets. 5.
