- Description
- In close partnership with FAA LOB training organizations, the FAAs Leadership Development division oversees the agencys Learning Enterprise Architecture (LEA), which includes the FAAs mission critical training systems, tools, and services. The FAAs training system of record, the electronic Learning Management System (eLMS), is at the heart of the LEA as the agencys primary training delivery and reporting platform. Supporting the eLMS infrastructure is a vast endeavor, and an essential component in meeting the agencys need to sustain a skilled, informed workforce. The eLMS Program delivers web-based training exclusive to FAA, critical briefings on security standards, legislation, and policy, mandatory compliance training, interconnectivity between integrated systems, and individual development and performance functionality. In alignment with the FAAs Destination 2025, which outlines the agencys strategic priorities, Leadership Developments goal is to lead and support cultivating FAAs workforce of the future, providing learning and performance tools that skills to ensure the U.S. has the worlds safest and most productive aviation sector. With the complexity of the FAAs training infrastructure, eLMS alone cannot achieve the tenets of the FAAs strategic priorities, as well as supplanting all training systems across the FAA. The goal of the FAA Learning Enterprise Architecture (LEA) is to design and augment an infrastructure that both serves the full needs of the FAA training community while also meeting the demands of system consolidation. In addition, the efforts of the LEA also represent the intersection between the FAA training community and the FAA CIO efforts. The end goal of the FAA LEA is to provide all stakeholders the most appropriate infrastructure for managing training and development opportunities across the FAA. This infrastructure provides employees with the most up-to-date training and development information, provides training managers the most appropriate tools for managing employee development, and provides FAA leadership with one source for all corporate training assets. The LEA serves as the critical link between how the FAA manages its employee development and how the FAA achieves the tenets of FAAs Destination 2025. FAA requires the continuation of current FAA enterprise learning technology project progress and analysis efforts, including continuing operational support for eLMS, critical system integration solutions, Blackboard, and the services and tools offered by FAAs Leadership Development division. Additionally, the FAAs Destination 2025 will continue to require the use and advancement of learning technologies within the LEA. The tasks associated with this statement of objectives play a critical role in maintaining the viability of the systems and infrastructure of the LEA.
