- Proposals are being solicited by the USDA, Forest Service for the Alturas Water System Improvement and Cabin Creek Drainage Restoration project for the Sawtooth National Forest. This project is to reconfigure the existing Alturas Lake Water System to allow for existing fill barriers to be removed in two locations from the former Cabin Creek channel near Alturas Lake.� Work will consist of 1) connecting a new well that was drilled in 2020/2021 to the existing water supply distribution mainline including installation of a new pump house utility building; 2) modifying the existing water supply distribution mainline terminus at the Alturas Outlet Picnic Area including installation of a new hydrant service; 3) modifying the existing well to accommodate a new hand pump service; 4) removing two existing restrooms (one at the Alturas Outlet Picnic Area and one at the Alturas Tent Campground), including disconnecting from the existing water system, and replacing them with two new precast concrete vault toilets; 5) reconfiguring and reconstructing the existing Alturas Outlet Picnic Area including installation of new site amenities and signage; and removing existing earth barriers from the former Cabin Creek channel; and 6) performing all other miscellaneous improvements as required to complete the necessary project work. This solicitation is anticipated to be issued on or after January 26, 2022. The anticipated start date for administrative and construction preparation tasks is mid-April 2022.� On-the-ground construction is anticipated to start September 6, 2022.� The project completion date is November 11, 2022. In accordance with FAR 36.204, the estimated magnitude of construction for this project is between $250,000 to $500,000. Contractors are required to be actively registered with the System for Award Management (SAM) https://www.sam.gov prior to submitting a proposal and to be considered for award.
