- RFI s & Answers NEW DUE DATES FOR PROPOSALS WILL BE 09/08/2021 BY 5PM EST. On page 8, section 2 (Headend, Fiber Optic Cabling, and Receiver Nodes SOW), what form will the analog channels be in when handed off? Will they be analog Audio/Video, or will they be a modulated RF channel? This will determine whether you will need demodulators to feed the encoders. ANSWER: NOT analog. Modulated RF Channel (Clear QAM format). On the SOW it states to perform work in multiple rooms and floors that are NOT on provided floor drawings for Ground floor through 3Rd floor: are we only doing work on the Ground floor through 3Rd floor? ANSWER: No. There are 6 CATV HUB locations that require fiber optic ran to them that are above the 3rd floor. C.O.(Kenneth) to provide Building 1-floors 4th thru 8th drawings. Please contact CO for drawings. CLC1 (1A) Is this a plenum environment? ANSWER: NO. If each double room gets (2) 48"" TV's, each single room gets (1) TV, which equals (48), then does the (6) common rooms get a new TV? ANSWER: NO. Section 4A) End-of-Life Replacement TV Details locations indicated where if any common/waiting room TVs are to be getting a new TV. Will the RG6 be routed via cable tray or ""free-aired"" once it leaves the stub-out from the rooms to the closets? ANSWER: RG6 to run via VA provided cable trays. If one is not provided then Free aired with wall/ceiling hooks as required by code. Is the contractor responsible to purchase and provide the 48-32"" LG TV's and the Peerless mounts? ANSWER: YES. Contractor is responsible to purchase the 32 LG Healthcare Smart Nurse Call TVs. No older that LG model 32LT662MBUC. Who is supplying the NCTV's for the double rooms? ANSWER: Contractor is responsible to purchase the 32 LG Healthcare Smart Nurse Call TVs. No older that LG model 32LT662MBUC. CLC2 (1B) Is this a plenum environment? ANSWER: NO. ANSWER: Contractor is responsible to purchase the 32 LG Healthcare Smart Nurse Call TVs. No older that LG model 32LT662MBUC. What type of ""wire"" is the VA supplying for the Nurse Call patient stations? ANSWER: WEST PENN WP54983 3PR-24AWG wire or better. HEADEND (2A) Is there a preferred manufacturer for the headend rack? ANSWER: NO. Is the contractor supplying a new UPS? ANSWER: YES. It must run the entire racked equipment for 10 minutes. FIBER OPTIC (2B) Due to running in conduit, can the backbone fiber be rised rated? ANSWER: No. Fiber optic cable is only in conduit for fire sleeves and during the CLC1/CLC2 core-drill floors 1 and 2. Fiber optic cable is expected to be minimum 6 strand armored cable. Is the fiber required single-mode or multi-mode (62.5 or OM3)? ANSWER: Single-Mode. What type of fiber connectors are required? ANSWER: To match equipment, preferably SC. Do you have a list of Approved Electrical contractors for Durham VAMC and could you supply it to us? ANSWER: No. We have only dealt with Xtreme Electrical Contractors LLC (Jose Matos). He has repeatedly been working on-site and provided an estimate for market-research on this project. In response to this firm s previous Request for Information for drawings, drawings of floor plans were provided for the Ground Floor, 1st Floor, and 3rd Floor, F-Wing only. In the Scope of Work listed in the original solicitation posted on July 26, 2021, and subsequent amendment updated on July 28, 2021, several rooms and floors are referenced in section 2(B) Fiber Optic Cabling and Receiver Nodes Specific Details , calling for cable connections to receiver nodes located in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th floor hall cabinets. Please confirm whether there are additional drawings for the other floors involved in the project that will be provided, or alternatively, confirm the work is to be completed by contractors located on the 1st and 3rd floors only. ANSWER: C.O.(Kenneth) to provide Building 1-4th thru 8th floors? Please contact CO for drawings. In Section 2(B) of the Scope of Work listed in the solicitation, it is stated there will be installation and pulling of fiber optics, and the optical receiver will convert the optical signal from the head end to RF signals for connection to the existing CATV hub distribution components and coaxial cable drop system. Please confirm whether the form of analog channels at hand off will be Audio/Video or modulated RF so that the proposal can properly account for potential demodulators to feed required encoders. ANSWER: Modulated RF Channel (Clear QAM format). In the Scope of Work, the CATV distribution system calls for Digital Pillow Speakers as part of the install for the Community Living Center. Please state the manufacturer and model number preferred for the pillow speakers. ANSWER: Manufacturer=Anacom-MedTek, Model=A1479-088DJ, Color=Purple The identification of two separate buildings (1 and 23) has the potential for ambiguity so our team would request the following clarification: Please identify the building name and/or number for the drawings provided that identified the Ground Floor, 1st Floor, and 3rd Floor, F-Wing. ANSWER: Building 1(Main Hospital) F-Wing Please confirm whether the work for this project will be performed in one building only or if there are two buildings. If there is a second building for install, please provide additional drawings for the second building. ANSWER: C.O.(Kenneth) to provide Building 23 GRD, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd floor drawings? Please contact CO for drawings. Please confirm, in the event there are two buildings involved in the install project, whether there will be (1) underground cabling required, and (2) underground conduit required, between buildings. ANSWER: Buildings 1 and 23 are joined. There will NOT be ANY underground cabling required. Will the VA remove, repair and/or replace any drywall or other wall coverings that may need removed during installation? ANSWER: No. Contractor shall be responsible for all drywall removal/repair. VA shall provide matching existing color paint to contractor. Will the contractor be responsible for the x-ray for the core drill or will the VA do the x-ray? ANSWER: Contractor is responsible for all X-raying requirements and liability for any building damage. For the Peerless television wall mount brackets, do they need to have any specific features such as articulating arms? ANSWER: YES. SOW Section 4A calls out for PEERLESS SA740P wall mount which have articulating arms. What is the make and part number, or specifications, of the Nurse Call cable that the VA will provide? ANSWER: WEST PENN WP54983 3PR-24AWG wire or better. Where does the Nurse Call cable terminate on each end of the cable run; originate in N1038 or N1032 and terminate in the Nurse Call box in the patient room that the RG6 travels through? ANSWER: The wire spec above runs from the in-room RAULAND NCBSD2 patient station(Nurse Call box) through existing conduit to above ceiling junction box, then through the newly installed flex conduit with single-gang back box, and ends at the back box with the RG6 cable. What size is the existing conduit between the hallway and patient room, and what cabling is currently in this conduit? ANSWER: There is no existing conduit or cabling from the patient room to the hallway(stubbed out). SOW specs call out Minimum of ¾ conduit shall be approved. Does the contractor provide the pillow speakers? If so, then what is the quantity and the preferred make and model? ANSWER: YES. 48 for CLC1 and 56 for CLC2. Manufacturer=Anacom-MedTek, Model=A1479-088DJ, Color=Purple In the semi-private rooms, will the new AC outlet be installed beside the existing TV AC outlet? If not then what is the pathway and distance between? ANSWER: NO. Connect 120VAC flex conduit from existing TV AC outlet, travel above ceiling to interior wall, then approx. 2ft down to newly installed single-gang AC duplex outlet. 10ft total distance. Does the new VAMC COVID vaccination policy apply to this project? If so, then what are the details of that policy? ANSWER: Yes. Language is currently being developed and will be incorporated into the contract once available. It shall be the responsible of the approved contractor to inspect all current NCTVs/TVs for signal. At conclusion of CATV Upgrade all NCTVs/Waiting room TV are expected to have proper digital RF signal.
