It must be equally utilizable for spinal orthopedic, ENT and P&R surgical applications. The surgical microscope must be available at a basic configuration containing the most common requested functionalities for all targeted applications The surgical microscope must be suitable for Neuromicrosurgery The surgical microscope must be suitable for spinal microsurgery. Face-to-face operation must be possible with both, surgeon and assistant, in a standing position even underneath the carrier arm. The degrees of freedom provided by the surgical microscope must allow for working in difficult to reach regions of interest, such as posterior fossa. The surgical microscope must optionally support image guided surgery. The surgical microscope must support endoscope assisted applications. The surgical microscope must provide all apochromatic optics. The surgical microscope must provide an efficient integrated light splitting with a switchable mirror for left/right or face-to-face co-observation. The device must provide motorized focus adjustment. The device must provide motorized magnification adjustment. The device must provide variable adjustment of the working distance. The lowest working distance must be 200 mm The largest working distance must be 500 mm The zoom ratio must be 1:6 The surgical microscope must optionally provide automatic focusing with 2 visible laser dots. The device must optionally provide 2 visible laser dots as focusing aid, when using motorized focus and/or focusing using magnetic clutches. It must be possible to electronically adjust the depth of field. The device must allow to be configured symmetrically for face-to-face applications. The surgical microscope must offer integrated tube rotation for better ergonomic observation. When tilting the surgical microscope laterally the co-observer tube on the right or left must not move in order to reduce intraoperative rebalancing. The device must offer a maximum magnification up to approx. 25x. The device must provide a xenon light source with daylight-like characteristics. The maximum power of the light source must not exceed 300 Watt to minimize tissue overexposure- The light source must contain a second illuminant providing the same power output and daylight characteristics as backup. The illumination of the surgical microscope must provide an additional light beam path to brighten shadowed areas in the field of view. The device must display the remaining life time for each illuminant. The device must automatically indicate defective lamps. In order to protect tissue from inadvertent light exposure, the surgical microscope must offer respective safety mechanisms: Automatic limitation of field of illumination to field of view (oculars) information when exceeding individual light threshold For easy maneuverability on all types of flooring, the surgical microscope must provide large twin castors with a diameter of at least 150 mm. The base must provide a central break, thus ensuring a safe and stable positioning of the device during surgery. For protection of cables potentially lying on the floor, each castor must provide a cable deflector. For convenient movement, the base must provide a function, which allows for easy steering (at least one caster can be fixed). For convenient positioning of the device next to the OR table, the device must provide free rotation (> 360°) around its center axis. The device must provide a symmetric left/right swivel range. The device must provide one central touchscreen user interface, allowing for programming and operating the entire device, including OPMI head, video camera, recording and patient data management. Surgeon and assistant must be able to see the most important device parameters, such as working distance, magnification and light intensity, within the field of view in the oculars. The device must provide 2 programmable handgrips. Programming of the handgrips must be user specific. It must be possible to independently program left and right handgrip. Each handgrip must provide at least 4 buttons to be freely programmed according to the surgeon s needs. For precise positioning of the surgical microscope, it must be possible to only release dedicated magnetic brakes. The device must provide a symmetric attachment of the handgrips, enabling the surgeon to evenly position the surgical microscope. In normal use, the handgrips must be in a position where they do not overhang below the surgical microscope body. The device must provide an optional programmable footswitch. The device must provide an optional programmable wireless footswitch The device must provide a fully integrated 3-chip HD camera. The integrated 3-chip SD camera must be fully operated via the central touchscreen user interface. It must be possible to record HD still images from the integrated HD video camera without an additional recording device. The device must offer an editing function for recorded HD still images without an additional recording device. The device must provide an integrated HD recording unit, for recording of images and videos. It must be possible to operate the integrated HD video recording unit using the device s central user interface. The device must provide a fully integrated 3-chip HD camera. The device must provide a function to record the surgeon s voice when recording SD or HD video. It must be possible to record images and videos on USB media using high-speed 3.0 USB standard for fast data transfer. The device must provide an integrated high-resolution monitor, mounted on the stand. The device must provide an interface and a function for fast internet remote diagnosis to be operated via the central touchscreen user interface.
