- Description
- NUMBER: PR: 0040539965 POSTED DATE: 8/6/2021 SUBJECT: Environmental Chemistry of Sea Otters This announcement constitutes the only notice. This is not a request for quotes. A determination not to compete is solely within the discretion of the Government. Any response to this notice must show clear and convincing evidence that competition would be advantageous to the Government. Responses received will be for the sole purpose of market research for future requirements. Under Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP), Fish & Wildlife Services, Region 7 Contracting and General Services intends to issue a sole source, firm-fixed price order to: COMPANY: Marine Ecotoxicology Trophic Assessment Laboratory, University of Fairbanks, DUNS: 615245164 FOR : $53,996.00 ON: 08/6/2021 NAICS: 541380 Testing Laboratories AUTHORITY: 8.405-6(a)(2) Limited Sources Justification and Approval 13.106(b) Soliciting from a single source Determinations not to compete this proposed procurement were made because: This request correlates with a current project conducted at the Marine Ecotoxicology and Trophic Assessment Laboratory (METAL) at the University of Alaska, Fairbanks (UAF) that is researching the movement of Hg through Aleutian Island food webs and its impact on marine mammals. The analysis we are requesting expands upon the METAL lab's previous research and will add in a new level of data within the trophic web to assess the full impact of Hg in the ecosystem. The METAL Lab currently has preliminary findings of mercury concentrations in sea otter prey in the Aleutian Islands, which complements our information needs and, as a result, we need to investigate this further.
