- Department of Veterans Affairs Network Contracting Office 6 - Hampton In Support of the Richmond VA Medical Center (RICHVAMC) REQUEST FOR INFORMATION The Hunter Holmes McGuire VA Medical Center is requesting a filament extruder, plastic Shredder, and polymer dryer. PROJECT SCOPE: The Contractor shall provide equipment, tools, materials, installation, training and repair (1 year) necessary for McGuire VA staff to operate Filament Extrusion System capable of recycling and producing filament in the following plastics: PLA, ABS, PC, PS, PETG, TPU, TPE, PPS, PVA, Bio PE, NEW PET and PA (6,12, 66). Specific Tasks. The Vendor will provide the following: Filament Extruder Pouch of practice PLA Pouch of cleaning agent Spool holder Vibration device Plastic Shredder Polymer Dryer Starter Kit Cleaning agent PLA granulates HDPE granulates Nozzle pack Puller wheel Spool holder Spool Vendor will provide 2 years of phone support and repair/replacement of these systems Salient Features for the Filament extruder system: Filament Extruder: Minimum Max temperature of 350 °C Band heater Ceramic with minimum 4 heating zones Compatible materials PLA, ABS, PC, PS, PETG, TPU, TPE, PPS, PVA, Bio PE, NEW PET and PA (6,12, 66) Output: 2 - 15 RPM Filament diameter range 0.5 - 3 mm (0.02 - 0.12 inches) Optical sensor accuracy 43 microns (1.69 mils) Nozzle extruder Diameter 4 mm (0.16 inches) Replaceable Power: 110-230V, 1300W max. Minimum 2 liter input hopper size Ability for Firmware updates, and Extrusion data analysis Max size: 19.2 x 8.5 x 17.6 inches Plastic Shredder Power: 110-220V Size: 21.7 x 12.2x 12.2 inches Output: 5.2 kg of 2.85 PLA filament/hour 2-4 mm filter screen hole size 4mm regrind filter Blades: 9 RPM 3 superior granulator knives (Replaceable) Blade material: High carbon and chromium air hardened steel Polymer Dryer Power: 110-220V 5 liter volume 1 kg/3 hour (PA6) drying capacity Temp control up to 160 deg C compatible with granulates, flakes, and powders Presets for standard materials Stirring mechanism, adjustable airflow Line Description of Services Estimated QTY Unit 0001 Filament Maker in accordance with (IAW) the Statement of Work (SOW) 1 EA 0002 Plastic Shredder in accordance with (IAW) the Statement of Work (SOW) 1 EA 0003 Polymer Dryer in accordance with (IAW) the Statement of Work (SOW) 1 EA 0004 2 Year Support Plan in accordance with (IAW) the Statement of Work (SOW) 1 EA 0005 Starter Kit in accordance with (IAW) the Statement of Work (SOW) 1 EA 0006 Feeder for Extruder in accordance with (IAW) the Statement of Work (SOW) 1 EA WARRANTY AND SUPPORT: The warranty and support must cover all components of the requirement in accordance with standard manufacturer s warranty.DELIVERY LOCATION: Richmond VA Medical Center 1201 Broad Rock Blvd. Richmond, VA 23249 REQUESTED RESPONSES: The intent of this Request for Information is to establish sources to define the procurement strategy (e.g set-aside, sole source, unrestricted) for a solicitation that VA intends to post soon. Interested contractors are requested to respond in accordance with the following: Please respond to this RFI if you can provide supplies listed in the table in the background section above. Please provide details on the proposed EQUIVALENT products such as Manufacturer Name, Part Number, and Description. If you have an existing GSA or VA, Federal Supply Schedule contract, please include the contract details in your response. DISTRIBUTORS: You must provide proof that you are an authorized distributor. VA does not accept grey market items. Please note that VA is particularly interested in determining the availability of Small Business Manufacturers. If your company is a small business manufacturer of potentially equivalent items, please respond to this RFI. Vendors are requested to submit estimated market research pricing with their responses. The estimated pricing will be considered when determining the procurement strategy for the future solicitation. (e.g. if CO determines that capable small businesses cannot provide fair and reasonable pricing, then the solicitation will not be set-aside). Please note that if no responses to this notice are received, from either authorized distributors of the cited brand name nor from manufacturers marketing a potentially equivalent brand, then this action will be sole sourced to the manufacturer cited in the Background section above.
