- Department of Veterans Affairs Nuclear Medicine Thyroid Uptake System STATEMENT OF WORK �A.� GENERAL GUIDANCE 1.� Title of Project:� Nuclear Medicine Thyroid Uptake System 2.� Scope of Work:� The contractor shall provide a Nuclear Medicine Thyroid Uptake System with DICOM interface that meets the salient characteristics listed below to include shipping and warranty.� 3.� Background:� The Imaging Service at Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System (CAVHS) provides Nuclear Medicine imaging services in support of Veteran care.� A key requirement of this service is the use radioactive materials to diagnose certain thyroid diseases. 4.� Type of Contract:� Firm-Fixed-Price B.� GENERAL REQUIREMENTS All written deliverables shall be phrased in layperson language.� Statistical and other technical terminology shall not be used without providing a glossary of terms. C.� SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS AND REQUIREMENTS A multipurpose spectrum analyzer use to perform thyroid uptake studies, wipe tests, bioassay, and automated quality assurance tests using specific software modules. Provides the ability to diagnose a malfunctioning thyroid by performing both radioactive iodine uptake (RAIU) and thyroid scans. The thyroid uptake is a measurement of the ratio of the amount of radioactive material that is found to be concentrated in the thyroid gland to the total radioactive material administered to the patient. Thyroid uptake system finds applications to evaluate thyroid function, specifically for diagnosis of hyperthyroidism, and provide data for calculation of a therapeutic dose of�Iodine-131.
