Description

NOTICE OF INTENT TO AWARD SOLE SOURCE. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR QUOTES. It is published for informational purposes only. This is a notice of intent to award a sole source contract under statutory authority 10 USC 2304(c)(1), set forth in Federal Acquisition Regulation 6.302-1, Only One Responsible Source. MARAD intends to solicit and award a sole source contract to Kongsberg Maritime, Inc. who is the Original Equipment Manufacturer. The Training Ship Freedom Star (TSFS) requires repairs to the hardware and software components of its Dynamic Positioning System. Kongsberg is the only source that can furnish the requirements, to the exclusion of other sources, because only they hold proprietary rights engineering design and material knowledge along with ABS Type Approval. Some of the system's components are made by Kongsberg specifically for the TSFS. �� See the attached Justification and Approval for Other Than Full and Open Competition for additional information regarding this sole source determination. Though no responses to the notice of intent to this sole source are anticipated, any potential respondent must provide evidence showing their capability to �provide and perform the required procurements and services. All questions and/or comments regarding this notice shall be addressed in writing to W. Alan Wile at william.wile@dot.gov. This notice is valid until Monday, 24 May 2021.
