Description
This notice is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items using Simplified Acquisition Procedures. This acquisition will be made in accordance with the format in Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Subpart 12.6 �Streamlined Procedures for Evaluation and solicitation for commercial Items,� as applicable, and as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation (a written solicitation will not be issued) and quotes are being requested. The Solicitation number is RFQ-NIAID-2065924 and the solicitation is issued as a Request for Quotes (RFQ). This acquisition will be processed under FAR Part 13 Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP). The solicitation documents and incorporated provisions and clauses are those in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular (FAC) 2020-06, Effective 05/06/2020.� The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this procurement is 811219, Other Electronic and Precision Equipment Repair and Maintenance, with a small business size standard of $22.0 million. This requirement is NOT set-aside for small business. Background: The Laboratory of Viral Diseases (LVD) carries out investigations of the molecular biology of viruses, the interactions of viruses with host cells, the pathogenesis of viral diseases, and host defense mechanisms.� These studies are designed to increase fundamental knowledge and facilitate the development of new approaches to the prevention of treatment of disease.� The goals of the Laboratory of Viral Diseases (LVD) are to determine the mechanisms used by viruses to infect cells, express and replicate their genomes, assemble infectious particles, and evade the host immune response.� Basic information obtained from these studies is used to design antiviral agents and live and subunit recombinant vaccines. The LVD has a major program of research on the biology of poxviruses and the use of poxviruses to make recombinant vaccines.� This work has direct importance for biodefense in view of the great similarity between vaccinia virus and variola virus, the agent that causes smallpox.� Much of the research performed at the LVD utilizes the use of the IVIS Lumina LT Inst. Series III and the service contract is necessary to ensure the highest possible technical standards are maintained at all times with this instrument. Description of the Requirement: The Laboratory of Viral Diseases (LVD) is seeking to procure a maintenance agreement of a BASE + 3 Option Years, PerkinElmer equipment, IVIS Lumina LT Inst Series III. The coverage applies to the instrumentation and system software, and includes parts, associated labor, and travel expenses.� These machines need to be in optimal operating order to perform continuing experiments related to the mission of the research laboratories in the LVD. See attachment for equipment and serial numbers. Any offers must meet the Bronze Plan coverage level of the manufacturer: Unlimited priority on-site repair services, including parts and travel.
