Description
The Department of the Navy, Naval Information Warfare Center Pacific (NIWC Pacific) hereby publicizes its intention to solicit, negotiate, and award a Commercial Firm-Fixed-Price FAR 13 purchase order on a non-competitive basis to Monarch Lathes, L.P. of Sidney, Ohio. This is a new procurement. The requirement is for the purchase of the following service: Item 0001: Repair of Monarch Lathes LP 10"" x 20"" EE Toolmaker's Lathe Inclusive of: - Drive retrofit 7.5 HP ac drive with new motor and back gear unit. - Provide for new key EE-3813 and Gear EE-3811. - Replace lube pump and meter units in apron and carriage. - Repair lube lines as required. - Provide Q-15993-5 Acu-Rite Digital Read-Out (DRO). QTY: 1 The NIWC Pacific Brass Model Shop in the Electromagnetics & Advanced Technology Division requires the repair of its Monarch lathe. Currently, the lathe is making high pitch noises when a heavy load is applied to the spindle during operation. These noises are the result of the rectifier tubes inside the machine on the verge of wearing down. Repair of the lathe will provide the Brass Model Shop with the necessary fabrication capability to continue manufacturing parts at Full Operational Tempo (FOT). The parts required to conduct the repair must be OEM to ensure backwards compatibility and accurate machine operation. As the OEM, only Monarch Lathes provides these parts and has the architectural knowledge to repair their machines as they have the special tooling. Only Monarch Lathes can provide warranted work. Purchase with an alternate service provider would forgo any current and future warranties and not guarantee original accuracy on repair and alignments as Monarch Lathes can. A determination by the government not to compete based upon responses to this notice is solely at the discretion of the government. However, all responsible sources may identify their interest and capabilities in response to this notice, and must clearly show the firm's ability to be responsive without compromising quality, accuracy, and reliability. A copy of the Request for Quote will be made available upon request. The applicable NAICS Code is 811310 ""Commercial and Industrial Machinery and Equipment (except Automotive and Electronic) Repair and Maintenance"" with a business size standard of $8.0 Million. The point of contact for this announcement is Ben Ossenfort at benjamin.ossenfort@navy.mil Be advised that the aforementioned information is anticipatory in nature and is not binding. Any comments, questions or concerns regarding this notice must be submitted via e-mail to benjamin.ossenfort@navy.mil by 5/20/2021 at 12PM Pacific. Questions by phone or fax will not be considered.
