Description
Statement of Work VANJHCS Ocular Surgery Simulator Background The VANJHCS has a requirement for an ocular surgery simulator to enhance the training of VA staff surgeons and residency surgical training. This need is particularly critical because of decreased surgical case load associated with the COVID19 pandemic. Objectives The objective is for the VANJHCS ocular surgery simulator, based in virtual reality to allow residents to develop and hone their surgical skills so that they provide patients with the safest and highest-quality surgical outcomes possible. Our residency surgical training at the VA has already been severely limited due to COVID-19, surgical simulation is the only way we can supplement our training at this time. It is critical that residents receive training on the simulator before they operate on veterans to prevent poor surgical outcome. The COVID pandemic starting in March 2020, has been reduced surgical training to less than a third of what it was. Replacing the current damaged surgical simulator would offer our providers with essential training to produce the best surgical result for our patients. General Requirements The contractor must comply with the following general requirements: The Contractor must be a nationally recognized manufacturer of high-fidelity surgical simulation. The Contractor will provide various modules to simulate different surgical cases (orthopedic, urologic, laparoscopy, general surgical instrument triangulation skills). Systems must have the capabilities for both cataract and retinal surgeries. Trade allowance for existing 2013 VR Magic Eyesi Simulator. Statement of Work The contractor shall provide the hardware, installation, and technical support for surgical simulator and its various modules, three (3) years of on-going technical support and software upgrades for the platform with the associated yearly maintenance fee and removal of existing unit. Equipment List 1 Surgical Platform 1 CAT Surgery Interface 1 CAT Software Package 1 VIT Surgery Interface 1 VIT Software Package - Spare CAT Instrument Set - 1 CAT hand-activated forceps - 1 ES CAT Angled Instrument - 1 ES CAT Phaco Instrument - Software (thirty six (36) months) - License for all Surgical software updates to licensed modules and operating system for thirty six (36) months. Security The contractor will have no access to patient information or medical networks at VANJHCS. If the contractor is required to visit onsite, he/she will need to notify the COR or other surgical service personnel at least 1 week in advance. The contractor will need to register with VA Police upon arrive to the New Jersey VA Medical Center and abide by COVID19 precautions and screening.
