Description

Kaleidoscope Pro, a Commercial off-The -Shelf (COTS) software that was developed specifically for wildlife audio recordings.� Both the FS and USDA Research Stations across the country are implementing wildlife surveys for bats, avian and amphibian species using audio recording devices. Kaleidoscope Pro Software allows biologists to sort, auto classify and manually vet audio species detections.� This software assist with information long term monitoring efforts, habitat restoration planning and Forest Plan revision work. Kaleidoscope Pro�s unique qualification that the Forest Service requires and no other known software can provide: Cluster Analysis scans wildlife audio recordings to pull out distinct sounds and phrases, grouping them into clusters. Once grouped you can view, sort, and label each cluster to analyze your recordings. Clusters can be labeled for species inventory or annotated to create classifiers that can run on additional recordings. Bat Auto ID features automatic classification of bats, precision acoustic scrubbing which filters non-biological sounds such as rain, wind, anthropogenic noise, and false triggers. For mobile transects, Kaleidoscope Pro's GPS/KML feature will quickly generate Google Earth Files. Noise Analysis generate reports of noise analysis. Managers can scan a batch of recordings in accordance with various standards to analyze the noise spectrum and generate reports. Smart Search allows users to search for recordings based on details such as time, temperature, identifications, or spectral qualities of the recording.
