Description
Scope of Work 402-20-679 Renovate Orthopedics Outpatient Clinic A/E shall prepare construction ready design drawings for complete demolition and reconstruction of the interior spaces in B200, 1st floor, north wing, from this point on referred to as 1N. This project will create a fully functional ADA compliant, Orthopedic department which incorporates the principals and practices of the PACT model. This project will provide a minimum of 8 universal treatment rooms, one casting area, and communal workspace for up to 10 staff, and up to three office spaces. Design efforts shall include but not be limited to, Architectural, Plumbing, Mechanical, Electrical, Structural, providing where necessary medical gases, tel/data, fire protection and detection, security, and nurse call/code blue. Refer to the attached proposed list of spaces to be included in the design. Final layout sizes and relationships will be determined through the AE guided design process with stakeholder input. Current challenges and short coming of the Orthopedic department which are to be considered and mitigated by the design include but are not limited to: Check in and waiting areas do not meet the VA privacy requirements and are not located to be the first area encountered by veterans, and is not suited to address pandemic (Covid 19) requirements. Current Orthopedic department is not secured and allows for patients, and care givers to wander into the department without staff awareness. The current treatment rooms are too small for their purpose, do not meet the privacy standards and most are not ADA complaint. Meds are currently stored within exam rooms and need to be centralized into a med room. Patient lift will be required in at least one exam room, final number of lifts to be based on VA guidance for safe patient handling. Department lacks temperature and humidity-controlled storage spaces. Department lacks a dirty utility room Storage for Ortho supplies and an EKG machine AE firm is responsible for providing independent 3rd party commissioning services as part of the Type Contract. The design firm must follow all required building codes, standards, and guidelines. This is to include but is not limited to VA Space Planning Guides, VA Design Guides and Manuals, VA Master Specifications, Physical Security Design Manual (PSDM), Legionella Mitigation, Directive 1061 Feb 16, 2021, and VA Sustainability Design. All design guides for the types of spaces must be followed to the maximum extent possible. After the A/E design is completed it is expected to be construction ready, and include all necessary details, drawings, and specifications to construct a fully functional Orthopedic department. Anyone coming to VAME Togus will be required to follow Covid 19 screening and testing requirements. These requirements are subject to change, currently no one is allowed access to the campus that doesn t have immediate business on campus. Anyone having business on campus must report to one of 4 screening access points, answer screening questions, and obtain a hospital issue disposable face mask. The mask must be worn at all times when on campus. Most vendors and contractors will also be required to take a rapid test for Covid. Additional information and requirements will be provided when access to the station is required either for bidding purposes or for executing work.
