- Peace Corps (PC) seeks an experienced licensed and nationally certified nurse practitioner or physician who has at least two years of experience serving as a Peace Corps Medical Officer (PCMO) or in a role comparable to a PCMO in an overseas environment, to serve as a full-time PCMO personal services contractor in Vietnam at the Peace Corps office in Hanoi, based on the availability of funding.� With the applications received in response to this advertisement, Peace Corps, at its discretion, may fill other full-time PCMO personal services contractor position(s) in Vietnam or at other overseas Peace Corps posts worldwide which may materialize within the six (6) months following the closing date of this advertisement.� Conversely, Peace Corps, at its discretion, may decide not to fill any PCMO personal services contractor position(s) through this advertisement. The PCMO will provide healthcare, education, and counseling to Peace Corps Volunteers and Trainees and will manage/administer the Peace Corps Volunteer health care program in Vietnam. See attachment (1) Statement of Work for complete description of responsibilities.� Working Conditions: The PCMO will work part of the time in the Peace Corps Vietnam office within the Medical Unit, and will travel part of the time to the Peace Corps Training site(s) and the Peace Corps Volunteer sites.� The PCMO may be called upon to accompany Trainees or Volunteers on overseas medical evacuations, and/or to attend overseas medical trainings and/or conferences.� The PCMO is required to carry the duty phone and to respond to off-hour calls (i.e. nights, weekends, and holidays) from Trainees and Volunteers.� This position requires extreme flexibility and adaptability. Each of the one or more anticipated Personal Services Contract(s) (PSC(s)) will be for a one (1) year period with up to four (4) option years, exercisable based on satisfactory performance, availability of funds, and continued need. �The work schedule will be full-time, plus duty phone requirements. Compensation and Benefits: Pre-tax compensation will be negotiated within the appropriate range for the position at the discretion of the Peace Corps Contracting Officer. Items of consideration may include salary history and experience. Benefits will be offered for this position in accordance with guidance provided by Peace Corps' Sub-Office of Acquisition and Contract Management. If the selected candidate does not presently reside in Vietnam, relocation costs for the contractor and their authorized dependents (up to maximums specified in the resulting contract) will be covered by Peace Corps. Required Qualifications: * Current or recent experience serving as a Peace Corps Medical Officer (PCMO) or in a role comparable to a PCMO in an overseas environment within the last five (5) years (a minimum of two (2) years is required). * Current certifications in one (1) of the following:� Nurse practitioner or physician.� Certification must be maintained during the entire contract period.� Nurse practitioners must hold certification from a national certifying organization such as the American Nurses Credentialing Center or the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.� * A current, active professional license to practice at the level of one�s credentials.� Professional license to practice must be maintained during the entire contract period. * If licensed in the United States, no unfavorable actions related to medical malpractice, state license, clinical privileges, etc. in National Practitioner Data Bank. * Clinical experience (a minimum of two (2) years is required). * Experience providing preventive health education and training to non-medical personnel. * Experience managing and administering health care systems, clinics, or out-patient programs. * Professional comportment and demeanor. * Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule. * Ability to speak, read, and write English at a professional level. * A background security investigation is required. �The contract award will be subject to the contractor's successful completion of a background security investigation. * Physically fit to work in an overseas environment. �The contract award will be subject to the contractor passing a physical examination and a Medical Clearance may be required. * Ability to receive payment in USD funds electronically. * Contractors will be required to register in the System for Award Management (SAM) before being awarded a Federal Government contract. �Registration can be accomplished at www.sam.gov. * Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Visa. Preferred Qualifications: * Familiarity with Peace Corps PCMO related policies and procedures. Additionally, interested applicants must have the following documents sent directly to the Peace Corps Secondary Point of Contact listed.� *Two (2) confidential professional references submitted directly from the issuing individual written within the past year.� Ask your references to provide a signed, personal reference letter. * Primary source verification of professional school attended (NP, MD,) submitted directly from the issuing institution (see attachment (4) Verification of Degree Form �attached). �[If Peace Corps already has this verification from a previous application, resubmission is not necessary.] All documents must be in English or translated into English. Competitive evaluation of applicants once determined to meet the Required Qualifications shown above will be based on the following criteria: * Current or recent experience serving as a PCMO or in a role comparable to a PCMO in an overseas environment within the last five (5) years (a minimum of two (2) years is required). * Clinical experience (a minimum of two (2) years is required). * Experience providing preventive health education and training to non-medical personnel. * Experience managing and administering health care systems, clinics, or out-patient programs. * Ability to speak, read, and write English at a professional level. * Professional comportment and demeanor. * Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule. * Familiarity with Peace Corps policies and procedures (preferred). Interviews, reference checks, and a review of other relevant documents to be requested of minimally qualified applicants at a later date may be required.
