Description

The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Panama City Division, (NSWC PCD), Panama City, FL intends to award a sole-source firm-fixed price purchase order to Pacific Scientific Company doing business as (DBA) Meggitt Safety Systems, Inc. for fourteen (14) cargo smoke detectors, as follows: Nomenclature Quantity 8936-02-01-09 � Cargo Smoke Detector, Model 60 14 EA This procurement is not suitable for full and open competition for the following reasons. Meggitt Safety Systems, Inc. is the only supplier for this part. These smoke detectors are presently installed craft wide and are required by the LCAC 100 specification document. The digital logic circuitry onboard the craft is designed around this specific make/model; deviations would require further system modification and testing. Presently, the Government is performing efforts to assign this specific part an NSN so it can be easily procured throughout the craft lifecycle; however, until an NSN is assigned and inventory established, sole sourcing is the only acquisition avenue available. Meggitt Safety Systems, Inc. is the only known source capable of providing the required items
