Purce, Contract Specialist, tonya.purce@va.gov Subject: NX EQ Automated Medication Dispensing Systems Pyxis MedStation Brand Name or Equal Description of Items: Automated Medication Dispensing Systems provide secure, large capacity medication storage in accessible locations with the intent to minimize delays in patient care and improve pharmacy supply. These computer programed cabinets ensure access is limited to authorized clinicians/personnel who can obtain only select quantities of controlled medications in hospital patient care units, surgical suites, emergency rooms, long-term care facilities, and physicians offices. It focuses on a more decentralized medication storage system which is not only faster but increases the safety of patients, eliminates medication errors, reduces risk of drug pilferage and decreases costs. Automated Medication Dispensing Systems not only help healthcare centers manage controlled narcotics but also dispense floor-stock medications and replace unit-dose exchange carts. Period of Performance: The resulting Requirements contract is a 12-month ordering period with two 12-month options.
