Description
U.S. Army Clothing - Socks: The U.S. Army Product Manager Soldier Clothing and Individual Equipment (PM-SCIE) is conducting a market research investigation for commercial over the calf type dress socks. ��This sock will be worn with the Army Green Service Uniform (AGSU).� The sock shall maintain its elasticity and shape throughout the life of the sock.� The goal of this effort is to identify firms with capabilities to provide these dress socks. Interest is in readily available commercial socks capable of being delivered in the approved Heritage Walnut Shade within four (4) months from a potential procurement. Desired technical and programmatic requirements: Sock material: Any domestically available materials will be accepted for the submission. Capable of being dyed to Heritage Walnut 567 (matching AMS-STD-595 color chip #10059).� Shall meet or exceed the following physical requirements: Characteristic Requirement Test Method Colorfastness to: ���� Laundering, after 3 cycles (min.) ���� Perspiration (min.) ���� Crocking (min.) 3 4 3.5 AATCC 61, 2A� 1/ AATCC 15 1/� AATCC 8� 2/ �Pilling, percent (max.) 3.0 ASTM D3512 �Bursting strength Not less than 85 pounds ASTM D3787 �Abrasion Hosiery Consortium Abrasion Testing Method �Growth and stretch TBD �Shrinkage/Dimensional Change TBD 1/� Rated using the AATCC Evaluation Procedure 1, Gray Scale for Color Change. 2/� Rated using the AATCC Evaluation Procedure 8, AATCC 9-Step Chromatic Transference ����� �������Scale Potential Quantities �Initial quantities for Government testing and a Limited User Evaluation (LUE) will be determined based on the number of qualifying responses to this RFI. If selected, the quantity required for these efforts would be no less than 325 pair. Potential yearly demand if selected and approved as the AGSU bag item is 28,000 � 32,000 pair per year. Interested sources shall, within thirty (30) calendar days of the publication of this RFI, respond with information on their current product(s) and/or future products and how they would address the requirements listed above. The information package shall contain the following items: Detailed information regarding the firm's production capabilities for the submitted items, to include whether the items can be domestically produced in compliance with Section 2533a of Title 10 U.S. Code (i.e. the �Berry Amendment�). General information pertaining to the firm such as address, point of contact, and business size. Pricing for currently available products or potential products. Sock specifications. Product samples may be submitted, if available. If a firm chooses to submit samples, no payment will be made by the Government for such samples.
