- Page 2 of 2 NOTICE OF INTENT TO AWARD A SOLE SOURCE The Department of Veterans Affairs, VHA Regional Procurement Office West, Network Contracting Office (NCO) 22, for the VA Long Beach Healthcare System (VALBHS), intends to solicit and negotiate with one source, the University of California, Irvine a requirement for Animal Husbandry Services for the VA Long Beach Healthcare System (VALBHS). These services are for a VA funded Research Program, to examine the Physiological and Pathological Aspects of Intestinal Vitamin B2 Absorption. The services needed for this research program include a designated lab facility for animal care that includes animal feeding, bedding, breeding, veterinary staff and technical support. The North American Industry Classification System Code NAICS code: 541715 - research and experimental development (except nanotechnology and biotechnology research and experimental development) in the physical, engineering, and life sciences, such as agriculture, electronics, environmental, biology, botany, computers, chemistry, food, fisheries, forests, geology, health, mathematics, medicine, oceanography, pharmacy, physics, veterinary and other allied subjects. University of California, Irvine is classified as a large business. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotes. No solicitation package will be issued. However, any firm that believes it can meet the specifications above may give written notification to the point of contact no later than 3:00 P.M., (PST) on Wednesday, December 9, 2020. Responses received will be evaluated. However, a determination by the Government not to compete the proposed procurement based upon the responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
