Description

This notice announces the intent by the U.S. Army Medical Research Acquisition Activity (USAMRAA) in support of the U.S. Army Medical Materiel Development Activity (USAMMDA) to procure one test article replacement edging machine, in a ruggedized case, to complete its test and evaluation program for USAMMDA�s Edging Machine Ophthalmic Lens modernization effort.� The test article must be identical to test units procured from Rochester Optical under contract W81XWH20P0064. � In April 2020, a contract was awarded to Rochester Optical, under a full and open competitive solicitation (W81XWH20Q0029), to provide test articles for USAMMDA�s Edging Machine Ophthalmic Lens modernization effort.� During the course of test and evaluation (T&E), one of the edging machines was damaged; in order to complete the T&E phase of acquisition for this modernization effort, the Government requires an identical replacement to the items damaged. � Replacement items required to complete the T&E are: the edging machine, part number ROEDGER; cutting wheels - T14TVO 14mm beveling wheel, A22TVO 22mm beveling/rimless wheel; ruggedized case, part number ROEDGECASE, for protection of the equipment during shipment and storage; carrying strap for packing/un-packing equipment; and power cord. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) for this requirement is 339115 and PSC 6540. This announcement fulfills the synopsis requirements under FAR 5.102(a)(6) and 5.203(a). USAMRAA intends to publish a solicitation no sooner than seven (7) days after publishing this synopsis. This Special Notice of Intent is not a request for competitive quotes. Information received in response to this notice will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether a competitive procurement is in the best interest of the Government. If no written responses are received by the date listed below, which reflects at least seven (7) days after the publication of this notice, the solicitation will be issued as a sole source requirement to Rochester Optical. All questions and responses concerning this notice shall be emailed to Rudolph Spencer at Rudolph.j.spencer.civ@mail.mil. Interested concerns must identify their capability in writing to the above email address no later than 10:00 AM ET, 1 December 2020.
