Description
AFCEC/COMR has an urgent need to procure 30 each Deutz Diesel Engine Assembly Kits, P/N: D2011L041. AFCEC/COMR has a requirement to purchase Deutz diesel engine assembly kits, P/N: D2011L041. The diesel engine assembly kit is an integral part of a BAK-12 energy absorber which is used a stand-alone Aircraft Arresting System (AAS) and as part of the Mobile Aircraft Arresting System (MAAS). The Deutz diesel retracting engine is identified in the Operation and Maintenance Instructions Technical Order 35E8-2-10-1, the illustrated parts breakdown Technical Order 35E8-2-10-4 and Air Force Handbook (AFH) 10-222 Guide to Mobile Aircraft Arresting System Installation. The Deutz diesel engine assembly kit is not specifically identified by part number in the Technical Orders. Another manufacturers diesel engine assembly kit will have to be first article tested for form, fit, finish, and function at the expense of the Air Force and manufacturer prior to being qualified/approved as a suitable substitute or replacement item by the AAS Engineer at Robins AFB GA. Failure to procure these approved items will result in our inability to comply with applicable Technical Order criteria and meet our MAJCOM customers requirements. The diesel powered rewind (retracting) engine installed on BAK-12 Energy Absorbers and MAAS is required to meet multi-fuel requirements for worldwide installations, deployments, and contingency operations. This engine meets the stringent EPA requirements in 40CFR 1068.240. The HQ ACC/A7OI AAS Program Manager and Engineer has mandated that all AAS provided to ACC installations and Red Horse Detachments will have multi-fuel diesel retracting (rewind) engines.
