- The Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Management Directorate (MGT), Federal Protective Service (FPS) is seeking to continue the upgrade of its Walk Through Metal Detector (WTMD) program. FPS utilizes WTMD machines to physically screen visitors in Federal facilities for illegal and prohibited items. The selected Vendor will be required to supply, deliver, install and provide warranty service for new WTMDs for FPS sites within the Continental United States (CONUS) and Outside the Contiguous United States (OCONUS) to include Hawaii, Guam, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. This is Market Research Only in accordance with FAR Part 10. This is not a solicitation. THIS IS A REQUEST FOR INFORMATION (RFI) NOTICE ONLY. This RFI is for informational and planning purposes only; and it does not constitute a Request for Quote (RFQ), nor a promise to issue an RFQ in the future. It is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government for any actual procurement of materials, machinery, or services. Respondents are advised that the Government will not pay for any information or administrative costs incurred in response to this RFI. All costs associated with responding to this RFI are solely at the responding parties' expense. Respondents are solely responsible for properly marking and clearly identifying any proprietary information or trade secrets contained within their response. The Government will not be liable for or suffer any consequential damages for any proprietary information not properly marked and clearly identified. Proprietary information received in response to these sources sought will be safeguarded and handled in accordance with the Trade Secrets Act (18 U.S.C. 1905).� No determination as to the viability of this potential requirement has been made at this point, and there is currently no solicitation for this effort. By responding to this market research, you provide the Government permission to share your submitted capabilities and contract information with other Government organizations in relationship to similar requirements for market research purposes. Technical Questions: Are you able to provide, deliver, install and provide warranty service for up to approximately 500-600 new WTMDs for FPS sites within the Continental United States (CONUS) and Outside the Continental US (OCONUS) sites over the next five years? Are you able to provide staff that will be available for immediate deployment to arrive at any emergency incident nationwide within 24-36 hours? What types of WTMDs do you offer? (Please provide cut-sheets.) What is the average life cycle for your equipment? Are your WTMD�s capable of being enhanced to take advantage of available accessories and emerging technologies such as, but not limited to: radiation detection, temperature screening, video surveillance, networking, etc.? Are they Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) or third-party? (Please provide cut-sheets). Can your WTMD and accessories be networked into a customer�s IT system? Does your WTMD and equipment come with a warranty? Could you provide a 5-year warranty or maintenance agreement if requested? What is the ROM (cost) for the WTMD, additional equipment and warranty? Is there anything else that you want FPS to review as part of the RFI? Who are your customers? Please provide contact information. (Not past performance)
