- Description
- The objective of this requirement is to provide form fit function sustainment options for the North Warning System (NWS) short-range radar (SRR), allowing for continued sustainment over the next 20 years to support the North American Defense mission. Q&A: The RFI is entitled Sustainment, but it also mentions full replacement of the system as an option. Does the customer have a preference if this is a sustainment effort or full replacement? - A: We plan to use sustainment dollars. Firm Fit Function replacement. Entire system is possible if it would be more cost effective. If the preference is sustainment, what is the longer term plan for updating the North Warning Radars /System? - A: The Northern Approaches Analysis of Alternatives is looking at the long-term plan for these systems. This would be an interim plan until the acquisition plan takes place in the 2040ish timeframe. Are the North Warning Radar acquisitions being coordinated with NORAD/NORTHCOM? - A: Yes. Our ACC/A5/8/9 is responsible for acquisition and is working off the Northern Approaches AoA. Is there budget allocated for this effort? Any rough ballpark on the budget? ($K's vs $M's?) - A: No money has been allocated for this effort at this time. I cannot state a budget number without proper funding authorization.
