QUESTION:� Are there any paint specifications regarding application millages required? RESPONSE:� Applied millages have not been applied to the paint requirement.� Paint must be thick enough to not readily peel or chip, provide an easily cleanable surface in the event of radiological contamination, and coverage to prevent material decay, such as oxidation/rust, which results in particulate spread in the event of radiological contaminiation.� Both of these are applied depending on the contamination. The information provided below will is an example of the information which is provided as ""NOTES"" on applicable drawings included in individual RFQs and Task Orders: PAINT NOTES: EXTERIOR SURFACES 1-ALL SURFACES SHALL BE PAINTED UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED.� NO PAINT ALLOWED IN THREADS, �O-RING GROOVES, AND ANY ADJACENT SURFACE TO THE GROOVE. 2-OUTER SURFACES SHALL BE ALKYD ENAMEL (COLOR XXXX). NO PRIMER; EXAMPLE: RUSTOLEUM 3400 (3427402) OR APPROVED EQUIVALENT NO PRIMER REQUIRED - DIRECT TO METAL PAINT. 3-FOLLOW MANUFACTURER'S RECOMMENDATIONS FOR SURFACE PREPARATION AND APPLICATION. 4-ANY MACHINED SURFACE THAT'S NOT PAINTED SHALL BE COVERED WITH LSP#3 HEAVY DUTY RUST INHIBITOR OR APPROVED EQUIVALENT.
