Description
This is an award for a Locomotion Compensator, TrackSphere LC-300- 2nd Generation. This will include a 30-cm interchangeable (white or black) walking sphere motion sensor supplied with computer macro-zoom lens suitable for objects (tick or mite) ranging from 1 - 10 mm. The speed compensation range shall be 0 - 30 cm/s. An object displacement sensor without moving parts or a reflector. Built-in LCD color video monitor. Tracking data are transferred to PC via RS-232 port in real-time speed and direction monitoring during operation. Specifically, designed software for track reconstruction and analysis. Compact size that is easy to install and operate in a laboratory with limited space. The design of the Syntech LC-300 aims to overcome several of the weaknesses of conventional servospheres: * The size of the sphere is limited to 300 mm resulting in a light and compact construction. * The sphere is supported by an aerostatic spherical bearing, which is noiseless and easy to clean. * The displacement detector is based on a CMOS video sensor followed by a digital signal processor eliminating the need for a reflector on the insect. * Only two parameters in the feedback loop between detector and motor drives need to be adjusted by the operator: 1. feedback gain, and 2. Time Constant of the feedback response. * A real-time video display facilitates focusing the displacement sensor and proper adjustment of the illumination (Infrared and visible).
