- Description
- The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention intends to negotiate a sole source contract with Georgia Tech under the authority of Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Subpart 6.302-1, Other Than Full and Open Competition procedures, for the acquisition of scientific services for the effective treatment of polymicrobial infections. Georgia Tech is the only firm with the inter-disciplinary group required for analysis of experimental and clinical data. In addition, the contractor has a unique combination of expertise in microbiology, bioinformatics, and ecological modeling. The contractor brings more than ten years of experience running experimental and theoretical systems in this area. Thus, the contractors unique knowledge, skills, and abilities will be used to achieve/identify relationships between the microbiome composition and human health as a predictor for therapeutic efficacy with cystic fibrosis. Outcomes of this requirement are highly dependent on known expertise as an indicator of success, which the contractor has demonstrated. This contract action is for supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b) (SAP) and 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1). Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement. THIS IS A NOTICE OF INTENT AND IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE QUOTES OR PROPOSALS. No solicitation is available. Firms that believe they can meet the requirement are encouraged to identify themselves and provide a substantive statement with descriptive literature and any other supporting information to the Contract Specialist within 15 days of publication of this notice. All information received within 15 days of publication of this synopsis will be considered by the Government to determine if more than one firm can meet the Government's requirements. Responses to this posting must be submitted in writing via e-mail only. A determination not to compete the described requirement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Federal Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct a competitive procurement. Any questions or comments should be directed via e-mail ONLY to Sarah Turner at KWP9@cdc.gov.
