- Description
- The Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center (AFNWC)is releasing a Request for Information (RFI) for key technologies to leverage the modular open architecture of Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) systems to exercise spiral developments and fielding of improved capabilities over time. Scope of Effort: (U//FOUO) Interest in ICBM capabilities for the US Air Force to acquire: 1. (U//FOUO) Strategic Guidance, Navigation and Control (GN&C) via fusing data from multiple lower-fidelity onboard sensors 2. (U//FOUO) Thermal protection system that can support hypersonic glide to ICBM ranges 3. (U//FOUO) Navigation aids to correct Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) drift on long time of flight missions. This could include terminal seekers, terrain matching sensors, stellar navigation, or other novel ideas to ensure weapon system delivery accuracy. GPS solutions are not acceptable. 4. (U//FOUO) Fuzing Improvements. This could include methods to reduce the Size, Weight and Power requirements of a future fuze, improve accuracy or to make a fuze modular, allowing it to accept inputs from external subsystems. Any improvements to fuzing technologies must comply with all requirements for Nuclear Surety. 5. (U//FOUO) Radiation hardened electronics at advanced nodes (< 32 nm) with associated advanced packaging enabling on the edge processing and integration of microelectronics into a system on a chip or system in package. 6. (U//FOUO) Smart Computing. This could include technologies improvements in computer hardware and software, including application of artificial intelligence, to improve user interfaces, ensure timeliness and accuracy of data available to users, and protect against cyber threats. This could apply to Weapon System Command and Control, Mission Planning, Maintenance and/or Modeling and Simulation. 7. (U//FOUO) Physical Security Sensors and Architecture for ICBM Ground Facilities. To request a copy of the RFI, please submit your request toboth Mr. Todd Brady, Contract Specialist, at todd.brady@us.af.mil and Ms. Jaime Veglia, Contracting Officer, at jaime.veglia.1@us.af.mil.
