Description
SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory is operated by Stanford University for the Department of Energy. As a management and operating contractor, subcontracts awarded by the Laboratory are not Federal procurements, and are not directly subject to the Federal Acquisition Regulations in 48 CFR. Nonetheless, certain Federal laws, Executive Orders, and regulations may affect our DOE approved purchasing system, as required by statute, regulation, or contract terms and conditions. SLAC has a requirement for a U.S. domestic end item source of the following product: Quantity: 4, Resin Tanks to meet requirements below: UTILIZATION The vessels will be used for removal of ionized minerals and salts (both organic and inorganic) from water by ion exchange in a process cooling system to maintain (polish) low conductivity water. The water system is used to cool electron dumps in the LCLS Free Electron Laser. The water in this system will become activated. Radioactive materials will collect in the mixed bed resin vessels. Therefore these vessels will be shielded. The shielding will be reused however the vessels themselves will be disposed of once the resin is depleted. CAPACITY Approximately 100 gallons with flow rate not to exceed 15 GPM. Materials 1) Mixed Bed Resin Vessel a. Type 304 stainless steel b. Fiberglass reinforced plastic 2) Shielding Vessel a. Carbon steel (powder coated inside and out) GEOMETRY INFORMATION 1) Mixed Bed Resin Vessel a. Diameter: 24� b. Height: 56� 2) Shielding Vessel a. Footprint: 30� x 30� b. Height: 74� (including lifting lug) Shielding The shielding shall be 2 inches of carbon steel on the top and sides of the vessel. Piping will exit through a small unshielded horizontal window near the top. The shielding vessel must have a low profile single lifting point on top as well as provisions for fork lift at the bottom. OTHER FEATURES 1) Mixed bed resin vessel must be fitted with outlet, inlet and vent pipes as well as a means of lifting the vessel out from the top of the shielding vessel. 2) Connections at the top of the tank shall be horizontal ending not less than 6 inches beyond the shielding vessel 3) Resin vessel shall be ASME code stamped with a working pressure 100 PSIG The award will be made based upon the Lowest Price method. Marking of Proprietary/Confidential Information. Offerors shall properly mark and identify with a restrictive legend or information markings on pages of the proposal that contain Proprietary/confidential information. For Offeror to be eligible for a subcontract award with the University and the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), Offeror shall be registered with the System for Award Management (SAM).
