Harris Contracting Officer CONTINUATION PAGE We are inquiring about the current mobile MRI system that is in use at this facility.  GE Excite 1.5T 16 channel What type of Mobile MRI System is in place and what is the current rate? GE Excite 1.5T 16 channel. Rate of $2000/day at OT rate of additional, individual pricing cannot be given since the incumbent may submit for this requirement. Can the Mobile MRI stay onsite for the entire contract or do you require it be moved daily? Can remain onsite. What MRI is currently onsite? GE Excite 1.5T 16 channel Will our MRI Techs be responsible for checking in patients or will this be done by VA staff / Radiology Dept? VA staff/Radiology Dept will check in all patients. Is there a preferred system (Vendor specific, software level, hardware level, etc ) that the Carl Vinson VA Medical Center is looking for? No preferred system. 16 channel 1.5 T Is there a minimum software and hardware level that would be accepted? No Can the mobile MRI unit stay parked on-site at the Carl Vinson VA Medical Center full time (24/7)? Yes Will the VA be furnishing contrast, syringes, needles, etc for contrast enhanced MRI exams? VA will provide all contrast, syringes, needles. If not furnished by the VA, how many contrast enhanced exams does the VA perform per month? N/A Can the mobile remain parked on-site 24/7? Yes. Preferred system/current system? No preferred. Minimum 16 channel 1.5T Do you prefer to have the system under an OEM service agreement? Contractor is responsible for all service to system however they see fit. Must meet all JCAHO requirements. Will the VA be providing supplies for MRI? All contrast supplies, gloves, linens, cleaning supplies for table after exams, AED, and MRI safe oxygen tank will be provided by the VA. VA does not provide MRI safe stretcher nor wheelchair. Will the VA be providing contrast for contrast exams? Yes Does the supervision of the service need to be a physician, or will a Director or Operations work for daily operations, staff, etc. ? Chief of Radiology will oversee the service. Several POC will be involved in daily operations including Supervisor of Radiology and COR. The specs for the scanner are pretty broad.  My concern is I can fill this RFP with a scanner 7 years old.  The end of life for the scanner will be during the contract terms.  Can you tighten the spec to say no scanner over 3 years old or give a technology reference such as; equal to a Siemens Aera or GE Voyager 16 channel, 32 channel etc? Minimum 16 channel at least equal to current unit. Quality images and able to perform approximately 16 scans/day. There are specific MRI s specifically built and designed for use on a mobile platform.  Not all the MRI s from GE or Siemens can be put on a mobile platform.  Some are not FDA/PMA approved for such use, and they cannot operate properly.  Those built for mobile platforms need special rigid framing and added structure.  MRI Manufacturers will provide certificates of operation for systems placed in a mobile platform. If the OEM s scanner was not intended for operation on a mobile platform, they would not issue the certificate, simple.   Will you require such a certificate from all bidders? No. Does the system have to be serviced by the original MRI OEM (4.8 Service Contract)? It will be the vendors responsibility to keep unit fully operational daily. The RFP is calling for Mon-Fri (full time).  Can the mobile stay on station full time and not move? The mobile can remain on station full time and is our preference. The OT in pricing has 5-7pm @150.  Is the 150 referring to numbers of days OT might be required? 150 is the number of days 5-7pm could possibly be used. 1.2.1 The MRI acquisition environment will have a means of redundant backup of all patient data.    If we upload to the VA PACS system is that considered redundant backup ? It is considered backup and we require MRI tech to verify images are in PACS after each exam. Please clarify the pricing.  It s our understanding it s a fee per month for 8-5 service and then an OT rate for the additional two hours (5-7) which would be as needed (estimated at 150 days per the solicitation).   Yes. 8-5 M-F is a fee per month. 5-7 is an OT rate and could possibly be needed 150 days. Can the unit be parked full time on-site for the duration of the term? Yes, it is our preference to remain on-site for duration of term. What s the current equipment provided by the incumbent? GE Excite 1.5T 16 channel Please clarify that the terms Contractor and the provider mean the same thing and are being used interchangeably. They do mean the same and interchangeable. Are there any non-standard siting requirements for the mobile parking pad? No Could you please detail your staffing expectations for this bid?  Number Technologists FT/PT? Any combination of FT/PT technologists so long as at least 1 registered Tech is available daily. Medical Assistants FT/PT? Any combination of FT/PT Assistants so long as at least 1 is available daily. How is it staffed currently? 1FT,3PT Technologists. 1FT,1PT Assistants. Could you be more specific with your equipment specifications? Scanner Bore Size 60cm or 70cm? Minimum 60cm Manufacturer preference? No preference Number of channels? 16 Table Weight limit? Minimum 350lbs Is a Power Injector required? Yes I just wanted to clarify, is the mobile unit allowed to be parked on site full-time for the duration of the contracting period? Or will it need to be relocated at certain times? The mobile can remain on station full time and is our preference.
