- The Naval Information Warfare Center, Pacific (NIWC Pacific) intends to award a sole source, firm-fixed-price (FFP) purchase order to Teledyne Instruments, Incorporated (Cage: 5ZSA5), doing business as Teledyne Webb Research, hereafter ""TWR"", for materials to support the Slocum Autonomous Underwater Gliding Vehicle (AUGV) programs. The gliders and accessories requested include a uniquely mobile network component capable of moving to specific locations and depths and occupying controlled spatial and temporal grids. Driven with sawtooth vertical profile by variable buoyancy, the glider moves both horizontally and vertically. The long-range and duration capabilities make them ideally suited for subsurface sampling at the regional scale. Carrying a wide variety of sensors, they can be programmed to patrol for weeks at a time, surfacing to transmit their data to shore while downloading new instructions at regular intervals. The ability to operate multiple vehicles with minimal personnel and infrastructure will enable small fleets of gliders to study and map the dynamic, temporal and spatial, features of subsurface coastal waters. This notice of intent is not a request for quote. A determination by the government not to compete based upon responses to this notice is solely at the discretion of the government. Questions by phone or fax will not be considered. Acquisition of Commercial Items under FAR Part 12 and Simplified Acquisitions Procedures under FAR Part 13 apply.
