- Sources Sought (Special Notice) The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) is conducting market research to determine the availability of qualified businesses capable of providing a ground-penetrating radar (GPR) system to measure the subsurface geologic structure for future field programs in a range of coastal environments.as described in the attached Technical Specifications. This sources sought announcement is not a request for quote or proposal and the Government is not committed to award of a purchase order or contract pursuant to this announcement. The information resulting from this market research is simply for planning purposes to assist the Government in determining its acquisition strategy. The Government will not pay for any costs incurred in the preparation of information for responding to this notice. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code � 334515 Instrument Manufacturing for Measuring and Testing Electricity and Electrical Signals and an associated size standard 750 employees apply to this announcement. All responsible sources may submit a brochure and/or technical specifications detailing the ability of their product to meet the salient characteristics included with this announcement. Introduction The U.S. Geological Survey, Pacific Coastal and Marine Science Center has a requirement for the purchase of a ground-penetrating radar (GPR) system to measure the subsurface geologic structure for future field programs in a range of coastal environments. 2. Technical Specifications a. Acquisition controller i. Wireless-capable with option for cable connection ii. Capable of integrating external differential GNSS iii. Potential to replace WiFi antennas in the field iv. Capable of mapping GPR survey location in GIS v. At least 32 GB internal storage vi. HD display b. 200 MHz center frequency antenna i. Stacking capability greater than 32 ii. Dithering capability to remove ambient RF noise iii. Depth of investigation greater than 20 meters iv. Water resistant, self-contained enclosure v. Weighs less than 40 lbs vi. Integrated GNSS vii. Option to integrate external differential GNSS mount viii. Option to integrate odometer wheel for acquisition control ix. Capable of variable stacking, depending on survey speed c. Multiple very low-frequency antenna i. Center frequency ranging from 80 MHz to 16 MHz (ground-coupled) ii. Antenna can be extended easily in the field to change from higher frequencies to lower frequencies iii. Stacking capability of 32 or greater iv.
