Description
DESCRIPTION: The National Institutes of Health - NIAAA intends to procure a DigestPro instrument - Sapphire Biomolecular Imager. The new imager will be used for detecting and quantifying DNA and proteins in various biological samples thus serve as an essential tool for the on-going biomedical research projects of LMS and LMBB of NIAAA in various biological samples thus serve as an essential tool for the on-going biomedical research projects of LMS and LMBB of NIAAA. Laboratory of Molecular Signaling (LMS) uses advanced mass spectrometry to determine the changes in protein expression in GPR110 knock-out mouse brain and needs to purchase an instrument that can automatically perform protein digestion and peptide cleanup for mass spectrometric analysis. They need an instrument for automated enzymatic protein digestion in solution or in slices of the PAGE separation gel and related derivatization techniques. The system automates all incubation and washing steps during digestion. Gel slices are held in a 96 well plate of flowthrough reaction compartments, which can be heated to appropriate temperatures of up to 70C. Reagent exchange by positive pressure using filtered air gas reduces contamination due to airborne particles. The DigestPro automatically performs sample preparation for mass spectrometric analysis, which allows scientists to precisely measure protein expression levels in various biological settings (GPR110 knock-out moue brain). The DigestPro is the only instrument in the market that meets the following requirements for automatic preparation of protein samples prior to mass spectrometric analysis for precisely quantifying proteins in the mouse brain or cells. 1. Automation for reduction/alkylation and In-gel digestion. 2. Thermal control of racks with heating up to 70 degrees Celsius) for digestion and cooled racks for elution following digestion. 3. Customizable in-solution digestion. 4. Automation of peptide cleanup using ZitpTip desalting. 5. Upgradable for MALDI spotting for MALDI mass spectrometric analysis. DigestPro is a sole source product, sold and distributed exclusively by CEM Corporation. This proposed procurement is for products and services for which the government intends to solicit and negotiate on a sole source basis with CEM Corporation located in Matthews, NC. 28106. In order to comply with the requirements in this Solicitation, the responses should be based on our interpretation of the general requirements provided below. This solicitation is not a request for competitive quotes. However, all quotes received within the time and date of publication of this "" Special Notice"" will be considered by the Government, evaluated and an ensuing award will be made thereafter to the lowest technically-acceptable price. Required supplies/Services: DigestPro MSi, base unit Upgrade Module for in gel digestion Upgrade Tip handling module Installation and training Shipping and handling HOW TO RESPOND: In order to compete for this project, interested parties must be registered in the Central Contracting Registration and submit a price quotation by 11 am, ET, July 24th , 2020. Offerors should submit one copy of the quote to MOE FILALI via email. Electronic transmissions to Moe.Filali@nih.gov are preferable but must be timely. It is the responsibility of the Offeror to ensure the proposal is received by the date and time shown above. All questions should be directed earlier.
