- Description
- DESCRIPTION: The National Institutes of Health - NICHD intends to procure the services of a contractor to provide Infinium MethylationEPIC BeadChip samples targeting >850k methylated CpGs in promoter, gene body, and enhancer regions for genome wide methylation. This is a continuation of a previous project where Illumina kits were used by the Lab and more DNA analysis and sample sequencing is needed. The aim of the project is to identify potentially chronic, heavy alcohol consumption is associated with differential DNA methylation patterns. Alcohol dependence (ALC) is a chronic, relapsing disorder that increases the burden of chronic disease and significantly contributes to numerous premature deaths each year. DNA methylation, an important type of epigenetic modification in humans, participates in crucial cellular processes, Several platforms have been developed to study genome-wide DNA methylation. Many investigators in the field have chosen the Illumina Infinium HumanMethylation microarray for its ability to reliably assess DNA methylation following sequencing sodium bisulfite conversion. and so it is important that all subjects be sequenced using the same DNA methylation platform. HumanMethylation targeting >850k methylated CpGs in promoter, gene body, and enhancer regions for genome wide methylation studies and can only be sourced from the manufacturer, Illumina, Inc. This proposed procurement is for a service for which the government intends to solicit and negotiate on a sole source basis to Illumina Inc., located at 5200 Illumina Way San Diego CA 92122-4616.
