- REQUEST FOR INFORMATION: 36C262-20-Q-1055. THIS REQUEST FOR INFORMATION (RFI) IS ISSUED SOLELY FOR INFORMATION AND PLANNING PURPOSES ONLY AND DOES NOT CONSTITUTE A SOLICITATION. THE SUBMISSION OF PRICING, CAPABILITIES FOR PLANNING PURPOSES, AND OTHER MARKET INFORMATION IS HIGHLY ENCOURAGED AND ALLOWED UNDER THIS RFI IN ACCORDANCE WITH (IAW) FAR 15.201(e). This is not a solicitation announcement. This is sources sought synopsis only for market research purposes ONLY. The purpose of this synopsis is to gain knowledge of potential qualified Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Businesses (SDVOSB) or Veteran Owned Small Businesses (VOSB) for relative to NACIS 337127 sources (size standard of 500 employees). Responses to this synopsis will be used by the Government to make appropriate acquisition decisions. After review of the responses to this source sought synopsis, a solicitation announcement may be published in the FedBizOpps or GSA eBuy websites. Responses to this sources sought synopsis are not considered adequate responses to the solicitation announcement. All interested offerors will have to respond to the solicitation announcement in addition to responding to this source sought announcement. The Department of Veterans Affairs, Network 22 Contracts Office, is seeking sources to provide Krug Side Chairs If you are part of an IDIQ and are interested and can provide the required supplies, please provide the requested information as indicated below. Responses to this notice should include your company name, DUNS Number, address, point of contact, size of business pursuant to the following questions: (1) Please indicate the size status and representations of your business, such as but not limited to: Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB), Veteran Owned Small Business (VOSB), Hubzone, Woman Owned Small Business (WOSB), Large Business, etc.)? (2) Is your company considered small under the NAICS code identified under this RFI? (3) Are you the manufacturer or distributor of the items being referenced above (or equivalent product/solution)? What is the manufacturing country of origin of these items? (4) If you re a small business and you are an authorized distributor/reseller for the items identified above (or equivalent product/solution), do you alter; assemble; modify; the items requested in any way? If you do, state how and what is altered; assembled; modified? (5) Does your company have an FSS contract with GSA or the NAC or are you a contract holder with NASA SEWP or any other federal contract? If so, please provide the contract type and number. The following lifetime warranty exceptions are allowed: Mechanisms, pneumatic cylinders, arm caps, foam, glides and casters shall have a minimum 12-year warranty. A selection of textiles shall have a minimum 12-year warranty. Product line must be warranted for users up to 300lbs minimum. Testing, Technical Specification and Code Requirements Shall meet or exceed ANSI/BIFMA X5.1-2002 General-Purpose Office Chairs requirements (tested for 225 lb. user). Shall meet or exceed Can/CGSB-44.232 (Canadian) and EN 1335 (European) Task Chair requirements. Chair padding and fabric must comply with BIFMA First Generation Voluntary Upholstered Flammability Standard. Chair padding and fabric must comply with the State of California Technical Information Bulletin 117. FCS (Fire Code Seating) models shall be available to meet State of California Home Furnishing Technical Bulletin (Cal TB) 133. Testing of fabric abrasion, stain resistance and durability must be documented and available upon request. Shall have proven health and productivity benefits by independent research (SC item #03-0003716). Shall meet all ergonomic guidelines by ANSI/HFES 2007 Requirements-Human Factors Engineering of Computer Workstations. Contributes to LEED Credits Environmental Features Material Chemistry: Must be constructed free of environmentally hazardous materials such as PVC, CFC, solvent-based adhesives, heavy metals (chrome, lead and mercury) and benzene. Shall be constructed free of environmentally hazardous processes such as those that produce VOC s and deplete ozone. Painted components must be coated with powder coat paint, which results in minimal waste, consumes less energy and requires no solvents, compared to traditional wet paint processes. Upholstery fabrics shall be available, which meet MBDC Cradle-to-Cradle Gold sustainable design certification. These fabrics contain less than 100 parts per million of any heavy metals of concern, which includes antimony, which is traditionally found in polyester fabrics. Life Cycle and Recycled Content and Recyclability: Shall have certification of environmentally intelligent product design from a third party, such as MBDC Cradle-to-Cradle Certification. Plastic base chairs shall be constructed of up to 15% recycled content: 12% post-consumer content; 3% pre consumer content Aluminum base chairs shall be constructed of up to 32% recycled content; 28% post-consumer content; 4% pre consumer content. Chair must be up to 94% recyclable at end of life. Certifications: Product must be certified to meet the emissions requirements of the California DPH Standard Practice for the Testing of Volatile Organic Emissions from Various Sources-2004 (CA Section 01350) and ANSI/BIFMA X7.1 Standard for Formaldehyde and TVOC Emissions of Low-emitting Office Furniture Systems and Seating using either the open plan or private office exposure scenarios defined in ANSI/BIFMA M7.1 Standard Test Method for Determining VOC Emissions from Office Furniture Systems, Components, and Seating. Testing must be conducted in accordance with ANSI/BIFMA M7.1. Certification must be provided by an organization independent of the manufacturer as well as from the testing laboratory, in accordance with the requirements of ISO/IEC Guide 65 General requirements for bodies operating product certification systems. The above requirement is covered by SCS IndoorAdvantage Gold Certification for indoor air quality. Product shall be at least Level 2 Certified with the BIFMA e3-2008 Furniture Sustainability Standards to meet or exceed the most current environmental standards in the furniture industry.
