Description

The National Library Service for the Blind and Print Disabled provides printed braille materials to patrons across the country. In Fiscal Year 2017 the NLS�s Music Section circulated 3,349 hard-copy items -- about 15 per day. Each item may involve dozens pages of embossed braille, resulting in up to several hundred pages of embossed braille produced daily. Braille embossers will be used in an open office environment requiring that the devices operate quietly and reliably.� To meet this growing need the NLS Music Section requires two new Braille embossers to continue to provide braille music material to NLS patrons. � The embossers required shall be high performance, heavy duty enterprise-scale devices to rapidly produce embossed braille material.� This will allow the NLS music section to create braille materials as they are needed for use by NLS music patrons. The Library of Congress is soliciting a Contractor to provide these embossing machines. See Section C of the attached solicitation for required specifications. Proposals are due no later than 7/14/2020 at 5 PM EST.
