- Description
- The National Institutes of Health, National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases has a requirement for a study to compare patients with lipodystrophy to patients with insulin receptor mutations. The goal of the study is to compare 30 patients with lipodystrophy not being treated with metreleptin to 30 patients with insulin receptor mutations matched for age, sexand glycemia using hemoglobin A1c at the time of sample collection. It is hypothesized that, by comparing two different types of insulin resistance, it may reveal novel, direct effects of insulin signaling on the human metabolome.
