STATEMENT OF WORK BURNER REFRACTORY REPLACEMENT FOR BOILER 3 The contractor shall furnish materials, labor, supervision and equipment to perform work detailed in the Scope of Work section on the following on Boiler 3, described as follows: Cleaver Brooks Boiler Model # CB 200-700 Serial# L-91022 Maximum pressure 200 psi Btu/Hr-29,291,000 209 GPH (oil) 460 Volt 3 Phase 60 Hz 55 Amps Blower motor 30 hp Air compressor motor 7.5 hp All work shall be completed within 30 days of award. The Cleaver Brooks CB model is a skid-mounted packaged boiler complete with the boiler, integral burner, and all required controls and safety equipment. This CB is a four-pass dry-back firetube boiler, constructed to ASME Section I code and utilizing 5 sq ft of surface area per boiler horsepower. VA Personal removed Burner housing for inspection in order to assess the problem areas. Scope of Work Deliver materials required and set up on jobsite close to work area leaving enough distance not to impede with the Operators walkway. Remove existing refractory. Thoroughly clean the furnace to remove old refractory cement or other foreign material to ensure the new liner seats firmly against the steel. Inspect furnace metal. Replace throat tile, and liner per manufacturer s Operation and Maintenance Manual for Model CB, CB-LE Package Boiler 400-800 HP. This includes the following: The throat tile must be installed to maintain an approximately 16 inside diameter and be centered in the furnace. Since the thickness of the furnace metal varies with the boiler design pressure, a shim of appropriate thickness must be used to compensate for the variance. A layer or two of insulating board or equal, or a bed of refractory material, may be used to center the ring. The tile shall be dry-fitted, match-marked, removed, and then reinstalled with the proper amount of refractory cement. Thin joints (less than 1/16 ) are desirable. It will be necessary to shave a portion from one or more tiles to obtain a fit. If a fill piece is required, cut it to fit and install the piece at the bottom of the furnace. When installing the housing, or the tile against the housing. Liberally coat the surface with refractory cement. Remove any cement that is squeezed out. Allow refractory to air dry if it is possible. If immediate use is required, fire intermittently at a low rate for several hours to thoroughly dry refractory. Install burner housing that was removed by VA Personnel. Install 3 gas line connection. Follow all recommended steps for curing of the refractory per Operation and Maintenance Manual. Upon completion of project notify COR for inspection of work. Close boiler front door. Contact VA Energy Center Utility System Operators to remove Lockout/Tagout. Test fire boiler with the COR present, and check combustion.
