Description
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District is seeking to procure gearbox inspections for Guntersville and Pickwick Locks. � The contractor will provide all plant, labor, materials, and equipment to perform gearbox inspections, laboratory analysis of existing lubricant, gearbox cleaning and flushing, replacement of lubricants including laboratory analysis, replacement of filters, and replacement of air breathers at Guntersville Main Lock, Guntersville Auxiliary Lock, and Pickwick Landing Main Lock. Gearboxes to be serviced are: 01.1 Guntersville Main Lock Upper and Lower Miter Gates (4 High and 4 Low Speed Gearboxes) Filling and Empting Valves (4 Primary Gearboxes) Chamber Tow Haulage Unit (1 High and 1 Low Speed Gearbox) 01.2 Guntersville Auxiliary Lock Upper and Lower Miter Gates (4 High and 4 Low Speed Gearboxes) Filling and Empting Valves (4 High and 4 Low Speed Gearboxes) Chamber Tow Haulage Unit (1 High and 1 Low Speed Gearbox) 01.3 Pickwick Landing Main Lock Upper and Lower Miter Gates (4 High and 4 Low Speed Gearboxes) Filling and Empting Valves (4 High and 4 Low Speed Gearboxes) 02. PURPOSE The reason for the project is to: Inspect and report the as-found condition of all gearboxes Clean machinery area Remove existing oil Thoroughly clean interior of gearboxes Perform internal inspection of gearbox Replace oil filters Remove and replace desiccant canisters/air breathers Replace oil Reassemble gearbox and return to service Perform functional and operational tests upon completion of work Provide written report of all findings Provide sufficient quantity of spare oil filters for twelve (12) month maintenance cycle Provide specified quantity of spare lubricant 03. Existing Condition Pickwick Landing Lock High and low speed boxes are all using Shell Omala 220 gear oil. There have been no reported issues with any of the gearboxes. The lock master agreed that 220 weight oil is a bit heavy for The Chamber Tow Haulage Unit, uses a planetary gear system, and will not be included in this project. The Upper and Lower Tow Haulage Units are not included in the scope of work as they are both out of service. 04. delIvery Location Pickwick Landing Lock 850 Carolina Lane Counce, TN 38326 Guntersville Lock 3780 Guntersville Dam Road Grant, AL 35747 �� �� 05. STANDARDS & TESTING All work will be performed and all materials provided will be equal to or as specified in the technical specifications and plans. All applicable standards and test procedures therein shall be strictly followed. The Government has scheduled a Pre-Quote Virtual Site Visit for Monday, June 22, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. Central Time. The purpose of the virtual meeting is to give prospective contractors an overview of what to expect during the two (2) physical visits for the projects. In order to participate in the virtual site visit, contractors must submit a site visit request form for each company representative. Site visit request forms can be found at www.beta.sam.gov under the Attachments section of this solicitation. Companies with foreign national representatives must submit a Foreign National Site Visit Request Form, which can found at www.beta.sam.gov under the Attachments section of this solicitation. All site visit request forms, including site visit request forms for foreign nationals, must be submitted by Friday, June 19, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. Central Time to Contract Specialist Kristal Jones at Kristal.R.Jones@usace.army.mil. �Two (2) physical site visits are scheduled for each lock. The physical site visit for Guntersville Lock is tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, June 24, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. Central Time. The physical site visit for Pickwick Lock is tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, June 23, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. Central Time. Due to the social distancing guidelines provided by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) for the COVID-19 situation, contractors will only be allowed to have no more than two (2) representatives from their company at the site visit.
