- Description
- The Lewis F. Powell Jr. U.S. Courthouse was constructed in 1858. Two additions were added to the Courthouse in 1911 and 1932, respectively, increasing the total square footage to 176,000 RSF. The Annex building was constructed in 1936 and includes 92,000 RSF. The Lewis F. Powell Jr. U.S. Courthouse and Annex are occupied by the U.S. Court of Appeals (COA) for the Fourth Circuit, COA Clerks, Circuit Executives, Office of Staff Council, U.S. Marshal Services, and Social Security Administration (SSA) Office of Hearing Operation.
