Description

The Library of Congress (Library) requires contract support to support the MBRS National Jukebox team�s work with the Library�s Web Services staff to add more historical sound recordings and new curated content to the National Juke Box website, including recordings from external contributors. ��The National Jukebox is one of the Library of Congress' most successful websites, with over 15 million views since the 2011 launch. Though developed and managed by a small staff of the MBRS Recorded Sound Section, it also is one of the most complex websites with multiple external contributors, internal and contracted digitization services, and a unique and rich database infrastructure. This effort will include seeking expansion of the record company license and other agreements that govern what recordings can be made available on the site.� In addition, this year the jukebox team seeks to upgrade the Jukebox to Project One or a similar Library of Congress (LOC) program, which requires workflows and processes to be examined, modified, and developed as necessary, and add new content from various project partners. The goal includes upgrading Jukebox technologies to better meet the demands of an increasing community of contributors, address the backlog of un-processed digitized content, and document procedures and workflows. The Library intends to issue a sole source award to provide these consulting services. In accordance with LC06.305, Availability of the Justification, the Justification and Approval to issue a sole-source award is posted with this notice. The synopsis of the requirement is as follows: One 12-month base�year and four 12-month option years. The entire contract amount�is less than the simplified acquisition threshold ($250,000.00 as of the date of this notice). The draft requirements are attached, as is the approved J&A. In addition, this notice serves as the Library's intent to sole source, the synopsis of the contracting action, and the public posting of the J&A and requirements document.
