Description
This is a Sources Sought notice. This is NOT a solicitation for proposals, proposal abstracts, or quotations. The purpose of this notice is to obtain information regarding the availability and capability of all qualified sources to perform a potential requirement. This notice is issued to help determine the availability of qualified companies technically capable of meeting the Government requirement and to determine the method of acquisition. It is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government to issue a solicitation or ultimately award a contract. Responses will not be considered as proposals or quotes. No award will be made as a result of this notice. The Government will NOT be responsible for any costs incurred by the respondents to this notice. This notice is strictly for research and information purposes only. Background: Our lab has an ongoing project in which the goal is to reprogram and restore aged hematopoietic stem cells through the use of lentiviruses that deliver key transcription factors. A cocktail of 8 transcription factors has been identified in our labs previous work, and now the lab seeks to use these factors to reprogram common myeloid progenitor cells for in vitro and in vivo experiments. However, in order to achieve this, large quantities of 6 different kinds of lentiviruses must be produced and a stock needs to be maintained for consistent testing for the foreseeable future. In order to achieve any of this, a proper ultracentrifuge with a swinging bucket rotor must be obtained to concentrate the lentivirus (an essential step in the lentiviral production process). Purpose and Objectives: We are looking to obtain an ultracentrifuge to use for lentivirus production. In order to concentrate lentivirus, the supernatant must be spun for an hour and a half at 25,000 rpm, a task that can only be achieved with an ultracentrifuge. By obtaining our own ultracentrifuge that has a large volume capacity, we may begin meeting our need for large amounts of concentrated lentivirus for in vivo experiments. Project requirements: The ultracentrifuge we are looking to purchase is the Optima XE-90 or equivalent. It is manufactured by Beckman Coulter Life Sciences. Its catalog number is A94471. The swinging bucket rotor is an SW 32 Ti Rotor, also manufactured by Beckman Coulter Life Sciences. Its catalog number is 369694. Salient Characteristics: In order to concentrate lentivirus, the product must be able to spin at a speed of 25,000 RPM for an hour and a half. The Optima XE-90 can not only meet this speed requirement, but it has a high capacity that will allow us to meet our high demand for lentivirus stock. The rotor itself must be able to hold at least 150mL total for each spin. The SW 32 rotor exceeds this demand, as it is able to hold 231mL per spin. This makes the rotor unique, as most rotors that are larger in capacity cannot meet the required speed for this protocol. Having this larger capacity will allow us to properly stock our lentivirus and move forward with in vivo experiments that we have been delaying. Quantity: (1) Ultracentrifuge (1) Swinging Bucket Rotor Delivery Date: 60 days after placement of order Other important considerations: Vendor must provide a warranty to correct any defects of material or workmanship that develop within one year after delivery of the ultracentrifuge and rotor. Capability statement /information sought: Respondents must provide clear and convincing documentation of their capability of providing the equipment specified in this notice. The respondent must also provide their DUNS number, organization name, address, point of contact, and size and type of business (e.g., 8(a), HubZone, etc., pursuant to the applicable NAICS code and any other information that may be helpful in developing or finalizing the acquisition requirements. Finally, respondents are also encouraged to provide a general overview of the respondents opinions about the difficulty and/or feasibility of the potential requirement, and any other information regarding innovative ideas or concepts that may be applicable. Information Submission Instructions Respondents should provide responses accordingly: (1) submit information electronically via email. No telephone, hard copy, or facsimile responses will be accepted; (2) format capability statements using Microsoft Word or Adobe PDF including attachments, resumes, charts, etc. Use single space, 12 point font minimum and 8 1/2 x 11 page size; (3) organize material in such a manner that clearly identifies and addresses capability requirements (4) capability statement should not exceed ten (10) single sided pages including references; (5) responses should be received no later than June 17, 2020 at 4:00 PM EDT; (6) include respondents' technical and administrative points of contact, Including names, titles, addresses, telephone and fax numbers, and e-mail addresses; and (7) send responses to this notice via email to eric.mckay@nih.gov. Disclaimer and Important Notes: This notice does not obligate the Government to award a contract or otherwise pay for the information provided in response. The Government reserves the right to use information provided by respondents for any purpose deemed necessary and legally appropriate. Any organization responding to this notice should ensure that its response is complete and sufficiently detailed to allow the Government to determine the organizations qualifications to perform the work.
