Description
This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in Subpart 12.6 as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; quotes are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. Background: The mission of the NIAMS Flow Cytometry Section is to provide NIAMS scientists and collaborators access to state-of-the-art flow cytometry equipment and to offer training and assistance at all stages of the acquisition and analysis of flow cytometry data. The Flow Cytometry Facility (FCF) oversees the use of seven cytometers manufactured by BD Biosciences and one by Cytek Biosciences. Support is provided 7 days per week to approximately 75 users including cell sorting services Monday through Friday. Each instrument is fully utilized - supporting multiple experiments each day. Flow cytometry is an essential technique for quantifying cells involved in arthritis, muscle, and skin diseases. The flow cytometry projects supported by the FCF are complex and varied; involving both in animal and human (clinical) research. The techniques used include polychromatic immunophenotyping, DNA cell cycle analysis, detection of fluorescent protein reporters and phosphorylated enzymes. As such, the facility is required to maintain equipment that provides for a wide range of applications and that includes the ability to modify and adapt capabilities as new applications are developed. The FACSymphony A5 is a leading-edge flow cytometer with 5-lasers, 26-parameter (24 fluorescence detectors plus forward and side scatter). Purchased in 2017, it is currently the most capable flow cytometry analysis system housed by the NIAMS Flow Cytometry Section on which numerous discovery projects depend. As such, the FACSymphony A5 must be properly serviced to assure optimal function and reliable operation, and its warranty expires on July 2, 2020. In the event of needed repair, it is important that it be addressed with minimal delay to allow continuation of research. Due to the sensitivity of the multiple facets of this instrument: laser systems, photodetectors, optics, fluidics, computer workstation and software, an annual service contract is prudent to cover the cost of maintaining this instrument in peak condition. Moreover, it is essential that all service be done by certified and factory trained engineers who have access to the original parts and software. Objective: The purpose of this requirement is to obtain maintenance services on existing Government-owned laboratory equipment manufactured by BD Biosciences, the FACSymphony A5. The contractor shall be an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) Authorized Service Provider of the BD Biosciences FACSymphony A5 with serial number R66096400046, and all services shall be performed by OEM certified factory-trained technicians using genuine OEM parts. See attached document for more information on this solicitation.
