- Description
- The U.S. Department of Justice, Drug Enforcement Administration intends to award a sole source purchase order to Tucson Iron and Metal to procure destruction services. All communication regarding this posting shall be in writing and be received by the archive date of this notice effective 05/08/2020 @ 10:00 am EST. Point of contact is Alicia Jones, email alicia.l.jones@usdoj.gov. The proposed purchase order is for a service for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate only with Tucson Iron and Metal. The government determined that the incineration facility to offer destruction services must be located within 160 miles of Corpus Christi, TX to limit the transportation of illicit substances to one day of travel. The mileage stipulation is limited to 160 miles considering that it takes an hour to fuel and load the vehicle, three hours to drive to the facility, one hour to unload and burn, and three hours to return to the boarder office. This totals roughly eight hours which is equivalent to one day of travel. In �accordance with Competition in Contracting Act, 41 USC 253(c) (1), as implemented by FAR 6.302-1, other than full and open competition is authorized when there is only one responsible source and no other supplies and services will satisfy agency requirements. The following FAR Part 12.3 provisions and clauses are applicable to this acquisition: 52.212-4 (Feb 2007) Contract Terms and Conditions-Commercial Items and 52.212-5 (Apr 2008) Contract Terms and Conditions Required to Implement Statues or Executive Orders-Commercial Items. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) is 562213. The Government anticipates the award of a firm-fixed price purchase order. A determination by the Government not to open the requirement to competition based on the responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotation. A Request of Quotation (RFQ) is not available. This is not a Request for Quotation (RFQ). Vendors within 160 miles (3 hour drive) that wish to be considered for this purchase order or for future contract awards must identify themselves to the Contract Specialist to ensure that they are provided adequate opportunity on this and future acquisitions. Any source capable of providing the service may submit a quote electronically to Alicia.l.Jones @usdoj.gov.
